Let's build the perfect service car!

Recommended Posts

For the last month, we have enjoyed the opportunity to go door to door in our territories once again! But, so have our cars. Just as we need to be prepared, so too our vehicles need to be clean and ready for the work they carry us to do.

What do you think should go into the perfect service car? Should it be a sedan, SUV, hatchback, or pickup? How can we make the car more comfortable? What utilities or features should it have?

Use your imagination! The sky's the limit on this one.

An SUV because:

  • They sit higher off the ground
  • Easier to get in-and-out of
  • Many come with 4-wheel drive
  • Can carry 5 or more with more comfort than a smaller car
  • Can hold extra paraphernalia (literature, jackets, etc) behind the back seats that can be reached without having to stop and get out like a car trunk
  • Looks more like a car than a pickup truck

A SWAT vehicle so we can all jump out, blitz a territory and take off.

We'll have to rename it...:lol1:

I had a 1978 Mazda 323 or GLC is other countries which was Great Little Car for witnessing. Cheap to run, plenty of room and goes just about anywhere. My car was this colour originally below, but I resprayed it to Sherwood Metallic Green with Gun Metal Grey around the windows, grill, rear end and skirting. Also it had mag rims and wider tyres and a 2 inch lift suspension which made it really good for our rural.

Another great car I had was a 1996 VW Polo. Like the Mazda 323, it just went about anywhere as well, but it did have airconditioning. It was nicknamed "The TARDIS" as it was blue and small on the outside but big on the inside.

But if I had a choice without limits on the vehicle, I would still pick the 323 anyday, even over a SUV or any modern car.

I would drive the green one. Sadly, america doesn't have cars like that.

Those cars are not practical for our rural territory

I am not sure whether the 323 would do it, but I never got it bogged in mud, although there was a 40 series Toyota LandCruiser down to its axles in the same area I just drove past in getting to the door (yes, doing our field ministry). A neighbour watched us going into that property, and he was going to get his tractor in case we got bogged, but was gobsmacked that we just drove out as like it was hard dry ground.

Another time I drove it through a causeway where the water was 6 inches over the bonnet and we were seeing the waterline on the windscreen and the side windows. Also did this whilst in the ministry.

This car went where some 4WD's feared to tread (maybe they didn't want to get their car dirty).

But using a one of those boats would be cool. We don't have areas where they can be used.

If you're going to go swimming, you need a boat like mine. It's got enough room to host a small party in the plush backseats. I can almost lie flat across the backseat because of how wide it is.72f19b4d4bc1b2a55d9ab1f5f9c49516.jpg

I vote for a vehicle with a coffee maker and a bathroom, and differentiated heating and cooling inside because it’s miserable being stuck in a car with people who are cranking up the heat when you’re hot or the air when you’re cold.

I had a 96 Chevy Impala SS that was big like that. The trunk was so big we could put all of the coats, purses, bookbags and had room for a few kids. It made a great service car.😁

I used to have a 1966 Pontiac Star Chief Executive

pontiac-2-2-630x390.jpg

It was even this color. This was before seatbelts were mandatory so this car could seat 8 for service and we still had room. It had an extremely large trunk and rode quite smoothly.

Except for the gas it took to operate it, I still miss that car.

That looks like the 68 Plymouth Fury III that I had. It had a 383 and was a big comfortable gas guzzler...

My drug of choice would be a 1970 LTD coupe hardtop in gloss black. Oh baby.
