NW Scheduler/Publisher - Updates, Support, and Suggestions

Recommended Posts

There was also an update to NWS this morning to 7.9.  I would suggest that you contact all of the elders and ministerial servants to immediately install the new update.  In the same message encourage anyone with add/editing privileges to pause any data entry until EVERYONE is updated.  When there are strange issues and incorrect data in any section of NWP that is almost always the issue.  Another safer option is to go in and toggle off all of the brothers editing privileges until everyone has updated.

Once everyone has updated, go into the Territory section and change something and change it back to refresh and resync the data.  Until every brother has updated, it is not likely that anything you do to fix your issue will work or stick.

Anyone else that had issues with reporting meeting attendance lately? I heard it from several congregations and work both iPhone and Android. For me it works so I have no idea how to troubleshoot. People says that nothing happens when they try to send. But some say it sends but never appears in NWS. So have any of you seen this behaviour? It started after the new version that came a while ago.  Those who I heard it from are not new to There app and have used the app for a while and have been able to report the attendance before without issues..

It has been working fine for us.

Check in Shared Persons to make sure they are updated to 7.9 #1419.  Then check in App Devices to make sure their NWP app is updated to 3.8.2.  Both need to be updated for these recent updates or we have experienced issues.  Also if any of those brothers have 2 devices with the NWP app installed there are often issues.  The NWS developers highly recommend only installing NWP on 1 device.

None of that might fix the issue but it is a start.

We have a teenager whose assignments are delegated to his mother. Now he has received a phone, has installed the app and can see his assignments, but his mother wishes to keep receiving the notifications.

Is there a way to have both the publisher and the delegate receive the notifications and reminders?

I would like to see a feature: We have a foreign language group in our hall.

When you go to the Assign section for a publisher, you can tick to say what duties they do i.e Foyer Attendant, Microphones

It would be nice if this could be separated into Main Congregation and Language Group

Some of our brothers will only do Audio, Visual, Platform etc for the language group and not the main congregation

Friends does anyone know if it is possible to upload to nw publisher from a phone ? I have the windows version and it works as it should , but it would be so efficient to do it from phone 📞

That's not possible at this time. There is a note saying the developers are working to add that feature but they don't know when it will be available.

I am not sure if they recommend using NW Scheduler on two different devices.  NW Publisher works on the phone.

Works fine on a PC and a laptop as long as you resync, but not phones or tablets. Also, not a Chromebook (yet). NWPublisher is not recommended for 2 devices

From my experience with more than 3 windows devices and many more android and ipad devices I have had no problems with my windows nw scheduler app (I only run one instance at a time for windows devices) and for my other devices with nw publisher --android and ipad devices. I'm loving the app for my use of it.😊

Question for anyone who knows what happens when you travel with NWS.

My Surface Pro 11 running Win 11 is registered and connected to the North American server. I am traveling to Australia will I have problem accessing and working with the North American server while being in the Southern hemisphere? Is using a VPN and logging into a North American server before connecting to the NWS servers a requirement to work with NWS while being away from the home country?

Thanks for any help.

While I haven't tried, there should be no problem. Servers should be available worldwide.

I think the main reason to have several servers is to distribute the load. Also for legal reasons. For example, European laws are much stricter and require a lot more paperwork if data such as names, phone numbers and addresses are stored outside the European Union, so having a specific server for Europe solves that (actually that server is in Switzerland, which is not part of the UE, but is in the list of EU-approved countries).

Are any using the territories module in a foreign language congregation? In my congregation (foreign language) we currently take advantage of most of the features of NWS/NWP, however for territory we use Alba. After his analysis, our SO has reported that NWS/NWP is not ideal for foreign language congregations. Any observations or personal experience?

Could use a little more information (Prov 18:13). Do the main features of NWP work well in your foreign language? Are maps (ie, Google, OpenStreetMap, Bing) available in your foreign language? Is he concerned more about creating territory boundaries? Or about adding addresses? Is your territory rural and sparsely settled, or more like residential? What part of NWP does he think will not work well?

He wasn't referring to NWP/NWS in general. We use it abundantly for pretty much everything that it offers, with the exception of territory. According to his analysis the territory management is ideal only for congregations that work their territory door to door. In Spanish we work from a list of Spanish speaking addresses, rather than visiting every door in the territory.

OK - I see his point. NWP can easily work with a list of addresses, but they would all need to be within a specific territory boundary.

The only way I can think of would be to transfer all your addresses to a spreadsheet, sort them by area, create NWP territories for each area, then import the addresses from the spreadsheet into each territory. If you have thousands of addresses, that could be time-consuming and tedious. One recent feature that would make that a little easier is the you can easily transfer an address (or a group of addresses) from one territory to another.

Only add those addresses to the territory. It's not like NWS adds all the addresses for you. You have to add them so only add the ones you want.
