NW Scheduler/Publisher - Updates, Support, and Suggestions

Recommended Posts

My apologies if this was discussed earlier in this thread. I tried searching but couldn't find anything related to it:

When managing the Territories section of NWS, is there a way to record territories returned as Incomplete? For example, say a publisher doesn't end up working the territory at all and after several months decides to return it so another individual can work it. What would be the best method to record this instance on NWS? Or even if the publisher worked 10% of the territory. It wouldn't make sense to make it as Complete so that it stays in the historical record, because that would skew the annual report. But deleting the entry so it can be assigned to someone else also doesn't make sense to me.

With the old pencil and paper system, you would naturally account for the history of a territory being worked or not. Having that information is very helpful. But within NWS, it seems you can only have a record of completed territories. I think it would be helpful to see instances where territories were assigned, but not completed, and therefore you can know that timing information

Yes, we have the same - non-publishers are "unknown", and also (as can be seen) the 1st student assignment is repeated.

Can't find any work around yet...

We do not have duplicates anymore. The latest update solved that

Sadly mine didn't. I updated a few hours ago.... However, there's another update now, and... It's solved it 😂

We are still having issues and the old reliable make a minor change and send app data is not working at all.  I think it is because we still have a number of brothers that haven't updated.

Does anyone know or have experience with "Remove a Shared Person" and "Restore a Shared Person"?  We have a brother on vacation that may not be back for another week or so before he can update.  If I Remove him can I then Restore him later without him have to enter credentials and such or will he have to go through that process again?  I am hesitant to do this if it makes extra work for him.

I waited until just a little while ago to install the update. I saw all the problems and wanted to wait for more minor updates and also I needed available time to deal with any issues. I am the admin so I have edit access to everything. As soon as the update was complete I sent the data to the NWP app. My app had already updated a few days ago.

Everything seem to work. I was surprised. Its been a few hours and nobody has complained about any problems. I am still waiting for the other brothers to update theirs.

I don't think this would impact your current problems. You should be able to make everything run.

Did you install the latest build: #1447 and the latest NWP version: 4.0.4?

Here are some solutions from the website:

2026/04/25: If publishers have any problems, please ensure they update NWP app to 4.0.4 or greater.

2026/04/24: NWS Mobile 8.1 BETA will be available in a few days. Please do not use NWS Mobile BETA until that time.

2026/04/23: As explained in the Release Notes of NWS Desktop 8.1, brothers must Send App Data after updating. This ensures all data is encrypted with the new security. If a brother failed to do this, data may be missing from NWP app.

To fix:

Update NWS Desktop to the latest Minor Version

Click App > Refresh All App Data > Send App Data

you may see the following errors:

PROBLEM: Person names show as "Unknown".
SOLUTION: Change one person's Display Name, change it back, Send App Data.

PROBLEM: Public Speakers or Congregations show as "Unknown".
SOLUTION: Click Circuits, Congregations and Speakers > change the name of one Congregation and one Public Speaker (who is giving an upcoming talk) > click Send App Data

PROBLEM: Territories are not showing for Field Service Groups.
SOLUTION: Refresh the Field Service Groups. Change the name of one group, change it back, click Send App Data.

All other missing data simply Refresh the Data (e.g. make a small change, change it back, then Send App Data).

How to Fix Data Problems or Restore lost Data
Data is duplicated or having problems

Note: You must have Edit User Access for the data type you are trying to fix.
Click Congregation > Data Maintenance
Click Detect Data Problems
Click Remove Problem Data

I hope some of the above helps.

Thanks for your detailed reply.  Yes I have installed the latest build and latest NWP version.  I have also tried every single one of the methods you have posted to a T.  Some of them more than once.  Nothing changes.  In the past I have seen those methods work numerous times.  I have also seen in the past that many bug fixes won't work until every brother is updated to the lastest minor build just as the NWS docs say in several places.

The only thing I am not sure of is your path App > Refresh All App Data > Send App Data.  I am not finding any button or link that says "Refresh All App Data."  Where do I find that?  Could it be the unnamed button in my screenshot that has a cloud with an up arrow in it?  I am a little afraid to click something since I am unsure what it does.

For UNWORKED territory

I have encountered that very situation -  publisher didn't realize she had received her territory. This is way to proceed:

  1. Mark territory as complete
  2. Now delete the entire assignment. (Eraser icon at bottom right).

Result will be as if assignment was never made.

For PARTIALLY WORKED territory

You can actually assign the territory to another person without marking it complete.

  1. Select partially worked territory
  2. Do NOT reset it - this retains what they DID work
  3. click the padlock icon to unlock the assignment
  4. click original assignee's name - this opens assignment list
  5. select new person's name, proceed as usual.

I just tried it: The button where the arrow is refreshes all data of the Congregation. Everything. (I noticed the data for Public witnessing was missing) I sent App data without any issues.
The one above is for specific data which you can select from the drop-down menu.

Wow! You are braver than I am.  At your suggestion, I clicked the button to refresh ALL the congregation data and it worked for everything.  Every single catagory that had missing or corrupted data is fixed.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.  Our whole servant body and congregation thanks you!  If I wasn't home-bound I wish I could fly to the Netherlands and buy you a coffee.  May Jehovah continue to bless you.
