NWS Mobile.

After update a note is in NWS:

NWS Mobile is now very stable. We have improved the User Interface and added many more features.

8.2 Update

I did just do the update, first item I noticed was it wants me to send data, publisher reports, 6264!

Let's hope when I send, I don't crash everyone....

Never amazes me that with most of the updates there is a hidden surprise.

 

 

 

No there is NO update it is 4.1.0. I use one of the most common Android phone Samsung Galaxy S-21 with Android 15. Hopefully it gets fixed as I really don't want to uninstall and reinstall and have another surprise.

 

And NO the update NOW doesn't fix it, neither the restart or shut down fixes it.

I get the "update available" message on my tablet, even though it had already updated to 4.1, but on my phone it didn't.

Yes, I had that yesterday, but it's gone now - seems a temporary glitch with the play store.

Same here, hours later it no longer appeared. However it has a blank screen for a lengthy period when it just says "Authenticating" which I never noticed before. Since the pop up box disappeared it seems that this was on the developers end.

I think I got the message that said something about another brother in the congregation had updated so then I was force to update. But according to the sharing screen nobody else had updated. Did I read that wrong? No way for me to go back and see the message.

Same here. I had requested that all the shared Brothers wait until today so we could all update at the same time or at least on the same day. But one brother updated yesterday for whatever reason. So when I logged on yesterday I was greeted with the same message you mentioned and I was forced to update if I wanted to use the app. Thankfully nearly all of us are now updated to version 8.2 except for one brother who is on vacation.

We did the same. As administrator I asked everyone to do any of their scheduling tasks before 3:00 pm Sunday. Then I updated nd gave the all clear for everyone else to do so. So far 8.2 working ok. One weird thing though, after I updated it sent nearly 2900 publisher records, so I haven’t figured that one out yet.

Are you about 120 publishers? If so the 2900 would be 24 months of reports.

🤔 60 is a factor or divisor of 120 so I still think it might have something to do with sending and maybe receiving 24 months of publisher reports? The numbers just seem to all fit too nicely to be coincidence.

All of us updated yesterday. Everyone is used to our coordinated updates and all were updated before 10:00 am. We had 2 brothers out of town so we just disable their sharing until they return and then restore it when they get back. This way brothers that need to edit or add data can do it and everyone is on the same version.

I was greeted with send app data: Publisher Reports 7463. It goes up and down every month but we have about 165 publishers. I think it was just a system adjustment to carry everything over from 8.1 to 8.2. We have had no issues updating to 8.2 and it did fix one persistent bug we had been experiencing.

Of course I have no idea but since they are implementing more advanced encrypting methods in recent versions, I guess they need to resend the data using that better encryption. In the previous version, if you remember, it required to send a lot of data too, most publishers data.

Sounds logical Carlos but it would be good if they included that in the notes. I find the notes less than informative. For instance, often bug fixes are referenced but not what the bugs were. This would be helpful for anyone experiencing specific problems like Marky referred to. BTW what was the persistent bug Marky?

You can always check your Sharing Logs which will explain what happened and why.

Sorry for the late replly brothers... 8.2 actually fixed 2 bugs for us. 1) When a brother would send an email reminder of assignments, the system would send the message to random brothers with no assignments - Fixed. 2) FSGO's had notifications in NWP about assignments that would have a date only and say "Unknown". At other times assignments in NWS would not show up in NWP - Fixed.

I experimented with the Custom Schedule feature recently. I created a schedule with one task for myself for last Sunday. The schedule showed up in Schedule and Duties in NWP and the Duty included the task description. Everything looks great and the task disappeared from the Duty section after it expired. However the Custom Schedule is still in the Schedule section of NWP several days later. I'm waiting to see if the Custom Schedule goes away or if I have to delete it in NWS.

I also created one to schedule several families providing another family transportation to meetings. The scheduled items show up in several places

1. Bottom of Schedules page: entire schedule shows up here (if i check the "Show on NWP box"). All the items in the list show up here, even the expired ones. If I uncheck the box, entire schedule disappears

2. In the "Upcoming.." box on top right of main page: Just the current items.

3. In the "Duties" page. All current and future items show up here. Expired items do not.

 

I'm giving it a little time to see if this is a feature worth using...
