NW Scheduler/Publisher - Updates, Support, and Suggestions

Recommended Posts

There is no way to specifically decline an assignment after it is made. There is a method that comes fairly close, though. On the Publisher app, they could add an "Away Period" for when they will be gone or ill. If they don't yet have an assignment, the program won't allow them to be given one. If they ALREADY have an assignment (ie, the away period is very short notice) the program will flag the brother who imports the new Away period, telling him there is a conflict. This would trigger the assigning brothers to assign the part to someone else.

This works esp well for assignments such as sound, video, microphones, stage, attendant, etc. - assignments that don't require much preparation.

In the NWS app any publisher can mark Away Periods so they cannot be assigned during those dates.

That's like Hourglass. But with Hourglass you can also decline an assignment which then notifies the relevant brother. To be honest it's a bit of a pain when people do that though lol

Does anyone know how to create an image of the whole territory map in nw publisher?

You can import the kml file from your congregation JW account.  That provides you with the boundaries. You can take a print screen of that and save it on your pc.  Then create a territory and load the image you just saved.  Finally assign that territory to yourself.

Thank you to all for your help with getting started with NWS

As a body we have agreed to leave Hourglass, and also agreed, despite some objections, to continue to use a 3rd party software if it complies with GDPR.

We have trialled NWS and it does everything we need.

Everything is great, EXCEPT, in UK GDPR you have to have a SIGNED Data Processing Agreement with any 3rd party who processes your data.

I have had to provide answers to the body with regards GDPR, encryption, servers, international transfer of data etc. I am confident that all of this is fine.

However, the branch sent us communication that stated we MUST have a signed DPA with any software provider - and this is not available from NWS

I emailed NWS and they feel that their Privacy policy and Software License agreement is sufficient. Unfortunately that is not the case according to UK GDPR

Although we have another meeting soon regarding it, i can see this being a sticking point to using the software. What is frustrating is that so many congregations in the UK and across the world use it, the branch is aware they do, yet we will probably refuse.

If only the branch made their own. Lol.

Don't give up hope. Many of us used iSilo and we have heard that helped the decision to develop JWLibrary.

I have a question hopefully someone has been before. We have been using NWS for 3 years now. About 6 months ago we started using the territory function. And until today zero issues, but today about 20% of our territories are completely gone as if they had been erased. Gone from the list and the maps. The assignments as well just vanished and this is quite troubling. We have them labelled numerically, so 1, 2 ,3, 4, 5, 6, 7 there and 8, 9, 10 missing. Then 11, 12 ,13 there and 14, 15 gone. Very odd, any ideas?

1- be sure you are on very latest update... the last week or two has definitely messed with our data at times.

2- I am confident you can restore your missing territories. Use the Restore function: allows you to select which territories, territory addresses, and territory assignment records to restore. Works really well. Just select a backup earlier than the date  your territories disappeared.

I was gone last week so my backup copy was a week old. But that resolved the map issue as you suggested. The poor territory servant was afraid he messed something up. So, he will now just need to re-assign the most recent assignments from last week.

FYI.  If this has not already been shared, then please note the following.  In addition to creating a backup file as recommended, there is an automatic backup every time you close the program.  The automatic backup file is saved in the following directory C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\NW Scheduler\Backups.

I entered the dates of our convention campaign, which starts today. How do I assign a territory as a campaign territory?

Hello, I found this help guide very useful https://nwscheduler.com/how-to/territories/territory-campaigns/

It gives you step by step instructions which work very well.  Also, once assigned, the campaign territory name shows in red on the NW Publisher app which makes it easier to identify.

I figured it out. On the page that you assign the territory to a publisher, click on No Campaign, then select your campaign.

1. Add a campaign: Territories > Campaigns > Add. I called mine "RC24". This will now show up when you assign territories.

2. Assign a territory. Use dropdown boxes to select person, scope, and campaign.

A nice feature - all campaign territories have a distinctive color in the territory list.

After making territory updates, I always do a backup to a flash drive. Question: Does that backup file only restore my territory updates, or would it do a complete restore of our congregation data?

A backup saves all the info, from publishers, to scheduled meetings, to territories.

When you restore a backup, you can choose what info to restore. If you only want territory maps, or territory assignments, you can restore only those.

Checked my email just now...
The brothers answered me. They advice is to change something in the tasks and send again the data. For me it helped!

Is anyone has the same problem...

Regards
