Here’s another finance book that I ordered. I’ve been a “fan” of Suze Orman since I was a teenager. I even used to have a crush on her as a teen. Not because I think she’s exceptionally good looking, but because she’s very intelligent. I like a woman with brains. 
I used to listen to her back when she was more popular. Now that Dave Ramsey has gotten so much publicity, I and the rest of America seemed to have forgotten about her. I’m going to start reading this book tomorrow. I think I’m really going to like it. She’s nowhere near as entertaining as Dave Ramsey is, but I like her advice more. Dave is rational, but she’s reasonable. I’ll let you guys know what I think when I’m done 😊

Me too. But as we continue to live in this system of things, we have to be smart with the way we use money.

I read one of her books about 10-12 years ago. I thought it was very informative.

I dabbled in crypto for a while.  Kept it low key, cause it was "controversial" in my area at the time.  I did very good when I was in.  I did my research, found a couple of obscure defi coins and invested in them.  I discovered that one of the charts they used to try to predict the ups and downs of the crypto's was fibonacci numbers.  I thought, "hmmm...that's the math used in Jehovah's creation."  And you know what, it worked!  I got in and got out at the right times more often than I thought I would.  It predicted when those coins would go to the moon or when they would fall off a cliff.  Didn't work every time, but I earned enough profit to get my wife the emotional support animal she needed.  She's allergic to dogs, so we got a very expensive hyper-allergenic Yorkshire Terrier.  He's a natural.  When she's having anxiety or depressed, he will go through walls to be there to confort her.

It’s something you mention the Fibonacci sequence because my brother invests in bitcoin and has studied economics for years. He was telling me last night that they use Fibonacci numbers in those charts, something I didn’t know, but am not surprised. I’m glad it worked out for you and you were able to get your wife her emotional support animal 😊

This is the booklet I just finished, The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels. I’ve never been interested in political topics, but communism and socialism have been such buzz words lately that I wanted to see what it was about. This was by far the most boring book I’ve ever read in my life, second to to Kill a Mockingbird. It was extremely hard to follow with all its political and socialist jargon. So much so that I had to read many paragraphs 3 or 4 times because my mind kept wandering. I wouldn’t recommend this booklet.

I’ve been thinking a lot about financial planning. One of the reasons I’ve cut back spending and gotten more serious about saving is because if this system lasts long enough for me to retire, (which I doubt it will) I’ll want to be able to support myself. I say that because many times we rely on the government to give us social security or a pension from a job when we retire, but these things aren’t promised. 
We all know you can’t trust a word the government says, and just recently Yellow Freight trucking company in the United States said they won’t be able to pay their retirees their due pensions because they are on the verge of bankruptcy. 
We are encouraged to keep Jehovah’s day close in mind and to picture ourselves in the new world. But it’s also good to plan as if Armageddon won’t come in your lifetime, because if it doesn’t, or it comes after retirement, you’ll be prepared.

Do you have a 401k or IRA? Roth or traditional?

 

If you aren't in the stock market, pick which institution you like and use their robo-advisor to help you with your investments. Start a traditional IRA for the tax benefits if you can.

I just finished this book. It was a really good read and very informative. It was also very concise. She didn’t tell of unnecessary information, but only what you needed to know. All the information was very practical and timeless. I would recommend it.

That Suze Orman has a very sensical way of thinking when it comes to financial matters and that is reflected in her book.

It's been about 6 or 7 years since I have paid any credit card interest.  I normally just pay the statement balance each month.  I plan to pay all my credit cards' full balance this month so that when the statement is generated I will have zero (0) dollars.  I will see what happens to my credit score.

 

I use credit cards for cash back also.  But I also like the idea of leaving money in an interest-bearing account as long as possible.  Every little bit helps.
