Moving On...And Letting Go

In the past few months, I have heard a lot of speculation...both from myself...and others on this site and in my own kingdom hall...regarding the recent changes that the Organization has made. I do not mean to fuel further speculation...only to offer a bit of bracing comfort from an account that we covered a few months ago in our Congregation Bible reading.

 

If you wish...please join me in reading the following verse:

 

1 Kings 8:4: "They brought up the Ark of Jehovah, the tent of meeting, and all the holy utensils that were in the tent. The priests and the Levites brought them up."

 

At first this might not make any sense in regard to the subject matter at hand...but I promise...I will keep this brief and simple.

 

As the Israelites transitioned from the Tabernacle to the temple that Solomon built...please notice what was transferred to the beautiful temple...the Ark of the Covenant...and its utensils. What about the tent itself? What about any other items which the Israelites had become accustomed to seeing when they thought of pure worship?

 

The truth is...we don't know.

 

Why?

 

Because it simply didn't matter...the things that mattered were transferred...and the Israelites continued their pure worship unabated. As those things were either discarded or used for a different purpose, the Israelites simply accepted that Jehovah was no longer concerned about them...and they faded into the background. 

 

Thus, the simple truth is this: We don't always understand when the chariot turns abruptly...nor do we always understand or agree with the direction we are given locally. But...in concert with today's Watchtower study...I fully agree with Carlos:  "An idea I like is that Jehovah blesses obedience, not being right."

 

No matter what we may feel personally about any changes in Jehovah's organization...we know...100%...that to follow any other course is not only foolish...it's eternal suicide.

 

If the stiff-necked Israelites could swallow their pride and stifle their curiosity and simply be obedient...even for a short while...can we do any less?

 

(I don't mean to imply that anyone here or in my own congregation is being disobedient...it's just food for thought)

Thought this was a bit of an extreme response to the beard update, then I remembered the Annual Meeting. 

Good points.

I'm sure we'll have many "burning the tent-cloth" scenarios as this system ends. It's good to get used to the feeling and keep our eyes on the prize.
