Morning Worship - Protect Yourself from Misinformation

Recommended Posts

From Daniel 11:27

There seems like a lot of warnings on misinformation.

Politicians have perfected the art of lying and misinformation.

Anything that cancels out a Bible principle or prophecy is a Zero

Plan ahead as if Armageddon will not come in your lifetime, but lead your life as if it will come tomorrow (w 2004 Dec. 1 page 29)

Apostasy is also becoming more and more a part of political/social activism with parts of it being played out in court. Thus the uptick in warnings.

I thought this picture from study article 28 was excellent in terms of showing how misinformation can come from one of us succumbing to disinformation.

Picture caption: A reenactment of when decades ago, brothers in the former Soviet Union received a letter that appeared to come from world headquarters but was actually from our enemies. In modern times, our enemies may use the Internet to spread something that is misleading about Jehovah’s organization.

Misinformation can come from many different ways, apostasy, news media, family and friends too. We need to be careful about it.

It was a very helpful way that Gary Breaux presented this point. Reminding us that amongst a lot of apparently factual information, there will be something false, and that nullifies the rest of what has been said. This is very helpful when considering anything that is presented across the whole spectrum of information that is thrown at us, whether political, scientific, technical or whatever, is there something that distorts the trumpet call. Is it a roaring lion disguised as a cuddly toy.

Next misinformation is welcomed if it's peace and security :)

I like how he quoted 1 Thessalonians 5:3 from that other Bible translation and said they would be talking about their hoped for peace and security. I’ve always believed this would end up being the case. I’ve always had a hard time believing that they will be saying peace and security because they’ll be trying to convince people that they’ve achieved it because humans can never achieve peace apart from Jehovah (psalm 4:8), and because the rulers would probably know the lie wouldn’t be believable.
I’m of the belief that rulers all around the globe will be pointing to a certain “solution” as the pathway to peace and security and will be promoting it all around the globe.

The Hebrew word cushi or kushi is an affectionate term generally used in the Bible to refer to a dark-skinned person of African descent.
