Things that make you go "hmm...."

Have you read the book Remarkably Bright Creatures it was very good and about an octopus - among other things.

I have not, I rarely have ever read fiction. I'm always on the hunt for knowledge, now that everyone else has done all the work. But I did look up the book and I find it interesting. That portions of the book are told in the first person from the octopuses perspective. I'm not saying I wouldn't be entertained by but who knows. I'll keep it in mind 🙂 thank you.

Why did Jehovah create us with separate teeth instead of a beak or ridge like a turtle?

my grandfather as a joke once said that in the future with 'evolution', people will be born with one finger, one eye, and no mouth with how much everything is behind a computer.

I don't think ive ever seen cart witnessing at a walmart... Or even a sams club or costco. Ive seen girl scouts, tmobile, blood banks etc.... But never witnessing. So its not like they dont like people standing in front of their stores. Ive even seen religious organizations at walmart. Is it just the area i live in or is there something i dont know? This is in the realm of also never seeing a commercial for a microwave, you'd expect to see one in your life time but never have.

So they are just scared down here then 🤔. Then again the baptists are pretty dang aggressive down here with their beliefs. My aunt proudly told me about how her church (that i used to go to) did a workshop and they studied and learned about witnesses and why we believe what we believe, then proceeded to tell me we didnt believe in Jesus 🥴

That's so true... I've seen Salvation Army and Girls Scouts.  I've even seen a church selling crosses and other religious items. But no cart.

(Glues everyone down reading this to a chair) i dont need yall running away after the next sentence.

Are we gonna be naked in the new world? Nonono dont run/scroll away, just hear me out.

Like in the new world we'll be making our own stuff right? We essentially will be starting from scratch.... However we will have knowledge of our previous life (thus seeing family members)

Will we be naked? However even if we are wouls it be natural like being in a global nudist colony? Or would we eventually all just start wearing clothes.

I plan to wear clothes unless I am told otherwise. Don't forget that Adam and Eve didn't see everything that Jehovah had purposed for mankind. Jehovah may have purposed for everyone to eventually wear clothes, so it's hard to look at Adam and Eve and think that is everything that Jehovah purposed.

I don't know but I sooo look forward to marrying and having a family. In the meantime, I also continue seeking not to lose appreciation for all things God gives us beyond our current spiritual paradise—so beautifully created, a spiritual family Jehovah been forming in these Last Days.

That said, in connection with your question ... which may make some blush, but is not immoral to think about imo, since it's how the human race started before sin entered the picture, I try to prepare myself to view whatever Jehovah says as a wish for us to be as a gift to be unwrapped. Because he knows what are (good and upright) desires are. This may include what may be not 'agreeable' to my heart in all honesty ... like for me to wait to have kids until after the 1,000 years and the final test of integrity we'll all face (I think of the 'no one marrying' answer Jesus gave on the brother-in-law trick question given him by the Sadducees).

Every first thought Jehovah has ever had is the correct one, always with an underlying benefit to all creation. So, whatever 'No' on this or that that the new scrolls may contain, I want to be prepared to not  'grumble' in the slightest—not even in my heart. I don't think I'm quite there yet in honest prayer, but I'm determined to keep asking for help to set aside what I wish for. If it's a good wish, certainly, God will make it happen.

Reminds me of yesterday's Day Text commentary in connection with Jeremiah 29:12 ("I will listen to you")  "Jehovah considers how our requests relate to his overall purpose"

'Success is to be measured not so much by the position one has achieved in life as by the obstacles overcome'—Booker T. Washington

Before we get too deep into this discussion, have you checked the other threads asking and/or dealing with this very subject?

Excuse the pun but this idea has been covered quite extensively on this forum

I mean… if randomness needs to be pre-approved and cross-referenced with earlier randomness, are we still calling this a random thoughts thread? 😄 Just sayin’, the spontaneous stuff is half the fun!

Thanks John

If spontaneous stuff is half the fun…

Then the other half must be intentional mischief

The kind you plan just enough to deny later.

Or maybe:

Half the fun is spontaneity.
The other half? Laughing about it afterward.

I don't know what is the other half of fun ... but at the risk of the following question about your question also having been covered in another thread, I have often wondered: Who are "they"? Who are these ones who say "if" is half of life? — What are their sources? Were they all in agreement regarding this "saying" or were there dissenting opinions? How do we know there were no ulterior motives in making such a statement?

They say “if” is half of life.

They say the spontaneous stuff is half the fun.

They say not to run after a sentence that starts with “Are we gonna be naked in the new world?”

They say to check if a thought has already been shared… before daring to think it.

But the real question is—

Who exactly are “they”?

Are they a council?

A guild?

An anonymous think tank headquartered in an undisclosed break room behind the literature counter?

I’ve been unofficially gathering data on this shadowy group for years. Here’s what I’ve learned so far:

  • They release vague-but-persuasive statements at odd hours—usually just before bedtime or during shower thoughts.

  • They are never seen in pairs. Always referred to plurally, yet remain individually unnamed. Suspicious.

  • They seem to have strong opinions on socks, fun, relationships, and what will or won’t grow back if you keep making that face.

  • They might be the same ones who said “time heals all wounds,” then promptly disappeared when the timer went off.

Some believe they are elders in the congregation of cultural sayings.

Others suspect bored linguists with a flair for unverified wisdom.

And still others… well, they think they don’t even exist.

But I say this:

Whether it’s life, fun, randomness, or robe-optional theology—let us not live in fear of repetition. Let us instead celebrate the noble cause of rediscovered absurdity.

Because in the end, half the fun is spontaneity…

and the other half?

Laughing about it in a thread like this one.

(With pants. Or at least plausible deniability.)

🕵️♂️ Case ongoing.
