Good portable charger for iPad Pro?

Recommended Posts

Lately I’ve been using my iPad Pro for taking notes at meetings, schools, assemblies, and I’m planning on doing so for the regional convention. The problem is that the iPad Pro drains fast and it won’t last a full day at a convention. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good portable charger that is reliable and will help get my iPad through a day of note taking at a convention without having to worry about the battery dying? If you use a portable charger for conventions and assemblies, which do you use? Thank you for your help, friends!

I have a power bank that I have had for some years. It still works well.

My only suggestion would be to get a 'brand' name. I have seen  too many news reports of fires started with inferior products. Many of these are to do with rechargeable batteries and chargers.

Get one from a reputable source. It should be well designed with built-in thermal protections.

One question is "how will you charge it?".  Most of the power banks now use 'USB type C' connection (they usually come with a charging cable).

I have one of the inexpensive Chinese models (with a London address).  It is 30800 mAh (about 115 Wh).  It charges out through USB A, USB C ports.  I used it at my week-long SCE Elders school (about 8 hours per day).  It kept my laptop, Ipad and cell phone charged to 100 % and still had 30-40% charge left in the power bank.

Hi Mike. Thank you for sharing your experience. What is your ipad pro model? And for how long have been using it?

the  iOs 13 ruined ipad pro’s battery life. When I bought my ipad pro 2018 model with an iOs 12 in it, the battery life lasted for almost 2 days. After the update to iOs 13 it dropped to 8 hours on the same day.

basically you need to turn off push notifications, locations services, lower the lights to save energy. my current is an iPad pro’s 2018 11 inch model bought wayback August 2019. Its kinda old. Almost 6 years and drains a bit fast but still manageable. When I charge it, i put a damp cloth on it with a fan beside to serve as a “blower” to keep it cool as it helps the battery not to warm too much and it works consistently.

if you have the budget upgrading to a newer model is an option. Just dont forget to back it up on itunes thru your computer. I hope these helps. Warm regards!

My iPad Pro is the 2021 model. I have all background apps off and I take great care of it. I even keep it in a cool place while charging as you do. It uses USB type C. I’ll look into a power bank that I can place in my bag and have a cable come out from it and connect it to the iPad.
