Can't read embedded captions

Recommended Posts

There are captions embedded in the images on wol.jw.org.  These captions are audio descriptions for the visually impaired.

In the past I could long press on an image and a box would pop up with the caption. If the caption was too long, I could scroll and read the entire caption.  Can't seem to do that now. It no longer scrolls. It just cuts off.

Anyone else with this challenge? Samsung android tablet and phone.

Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things.

Are there any options on iOS? I vaguely remember a copy and paste trick but I can't get it to work now on iOS Safari or Chrome. I normally listen to the audio for the wt study and the description of the picture as well as any captions seem to be read.

I was having the same issue but it seems to have been resolved. I have a Samsung android device using Chrome to access WOL and I can see the entire caption on images now.

Yes, now it works again! But if you want to copy the text to JW Library you have to share the link in e-mail and copy the text in the e-mail and paste to JW Library and then delete the e-mail. It works att least in G-Mail, I have no experience of other mail clients. In Firefox you can copy the text directly from jw.org without stopover in a mail clients.

In case this helps any iOS mobile users. 😃

It looks like it is working on iOS again too. On my iPhone, I open the publication in wol.jw.org (tap a paragraph, tap share arrow, tap open in Online Library Or go to WoL manually, meetings, this weeks wt study) Then select some text before the image and after the image. As seen below then hit copy then go to JW Library to paste it into a note or comment box for that article.

Resulting pasted text in JW Library study note or text box:

"faithfulness.

An Israelite man reflecting as he stacks bricks in Egypt. Nearby, Egyptians use rods to beat other hardworking Israelites.
Eventually"

The words between "faithfulness." and "Eventually" is the picture description.
