The Stanley is much more impressive in person than in pictures - although, there is nothing impressive about the surrounding location like the one in Plant City Florida

This was the KH in Hawthorne, Fl. The congregation was dissolved a few years ago and the building is now for sale. When we formed the congregation, we had 3 elders and 28 cards in the file. The congregation was there for about 20 years and was dissolved during reorganization. The building needs quite a bit of work.

 

Interesting fact ... the building on the right (and in the second picture) was, at one time, a theater. It was the first building we used when we first formed the congregation. We rented there until the building next door came up for sale and we moved the KH there when we bought the building. The old theater had a single restroom that we had to build behind the stage. To get to it, you had to come out the front door and go into the door on the right-side setback to access it. Since there was only one restroom, we had a restroom attendant in that side room to let you know if the restroom was vacant.

 

In the third picture, the building to the left was a barbershop. If you notice, the KH roof extends over the barbershop roof. The walls for the two buildings are only about 30 inches apart. Since the property line is somewhere between the two buildings, it made getting a clear title a little difficult.

 

The small town is economically depressed, so the real-estate market is not very good, and the building has not sold.

 

Most of the publishers who were in the Hawthorne congregation now attend one of these two KH's
