Pictures of Kingdom Halls

The Stanley is much more impressive in person than in pictures - although, there is nothing impressive about the surrounding location like the one in Plant City Florida

This was the KH in Hawthorne, Fl. The congregation was dissolved a few years ago and the building is now for sale. When we formed the congregation, we had 3 elders and 28 cards in the file. The congregation was there for about 20 years and was dissolved during reorganization. The building needs quite a bit of work.

Interesting fact ... the building on the right (and in the second picture) was, at one time, a theater. It was the first building we used when we first formed the congregation. We rented there until the building next door came up for sale and we moved the KH there when we bought the building. The old theater had a single restroom that we had to build behind the stage. To get to it, you had to come out the front door and go into the door on the right-side setback to access it. Since there was only one restroom, we had a restroom attendant in that side room to let you know if the restroom was vacant.

In the third picture, the building to the left was a barbershop. If you notice, the KH roof extends over the barbershop roof. The walls for the two buildings are only about 30 inches apart. Since the property line is somewhere between the two buildings, it made getting a clear title a little difficult.

The small town is economically depressed, so the real-estate market is not very good, and the building has not sold.

Most of the publishers who were in the Hawthorne congregation now attend one of these two KH's

I have noticed that the appearance of kingdom Hall varies significantly from place to place, Kingdom Halls are more impressive and elegantly looking in some places with exquisite internal decorations and furnishings, but in other places the KH is so plain and sometimes funny looking (if you understand what I mean,Lols).

Why is this so?

We recently had an elegant KH in my hometown, with tiled floor, PVC ceiling and imported seats with the JW logo emblazoned on them.

i love the gift of that new KH to my hometown.

I just wish everyone else can have that.

maybe in reply to Ishaya comment, for many years the building and design of a hall was done to the abilties and money of the local congregation. Hence some variations in style of each hall. When it was down to local congregations it was up to local brothers to build hall  (pre quickbuild)  - one hall took three years to build. One in Kenya designed by my father who was an architect took 90 days

There are also local building requirements. In some communities a "standard" or "local decor" must be met to secure a building permit from the local authorities. That can mean keeping it simple or making it more luxurious.

One of the KH's a little north of me in located in a very affluent area. The residents in that area are all "well to do", including the JW's that live there. Since there are enough JW's in the greater area to have two congregations, there is a KH. The greater area includes some neighborhoods that are outside of the well to do area so not all in both congregations are well to do. The land that was available was in the more affluent area of the community, so the city set a certain standard for the building. If they wanted to have a local KH, it had to be built to the community standards. It has been there for over 30 years.

Our congregation is rural, so the building itself does not have to be "fancy". However, with our recent remodel we were required by the county to have the paved parking lot and retention pond along with a prescribed amount of landscaping.

I thought It's our organization that constructs and maintain the KH?

Sometimes the organisation buys buildings and just renovate them, my old Kingdom Hall used to be a church before it was converted. When it got flooded badly at the start of 2020 we sold it and now another religious organisation owns it

Also, google maps isn’t always 100% accurate. The old Kingdom Hall in Merthyr Tydfil is still listed as the KH on Google, however it’s been converted into flats for quite a few years.
