What do You think "work" and learning might be like in the New World?

Recommended Posts

I’ve been thinking a lot about what it will be like to learn about Jehovah’s creations in the New World, and what types of "work" will still exist. I really look forward to being able to study and understand these former-to-new things from Jehovah’s perspective, without the limits we have now.

After reading another Forum about concerns with animal suffering, it made me wonder how certain fields of study today might change. For example, there are jobs now focused on studying animal predation, like predator biologists or carnivore researchers.

When I think about Isaiah 11:6–9 and 65:25, where former predators lie down and eating straw with former prey. It made me think: if conditions are peaceful like this in the future, what would happen to those former kinds of jobs that focused on certain former behaviors, biology, science? Will they cease to exist? Or will others change into something new?

I know we can’t say for sure how everything will work, but it’s encouraging to think about how learning might be different, deeper, and more complete.

What do y'all think?

Are there things you’re especially excited to learn or understand in the New World?

What job/role can you think of that may change, and what drew your interest to them?

I have always thought that children will be schooled in some manner.  Parents will be far more involved than now.  Experts can also aid in schooling children.  I can see one day a week being devoted to learning that continues into adulthood.

Things will have to be organized.  You won't be able too just go out and start building a house where someone else had planned to have a garden.  Things will be done orderly.

I am sure a lot of work and planning will go into learning about solar energy and wind energy and storage without batteries.  Maybe an inground water tank for heat storage.

Earth tubes can go a long way to heating and cooling a house.  Tubes buried ten feet in the ground that allows conditioned air (warmer or cooler than outside air) can be used to stabilize house temperatures year-round.

People who were doctors in this system can be retrained to do other things.  We can study the best way to take care of the animal population of the earth.

I assume that we will have some sort of communication, whether it might be something like the Postal Service and someday electronic communications around the world.

Energy production rates high with me.  Ways to produce electricity, heat, energy that are clean.  Solar and Wind are obvious.  Will hydrogen fuel cells be used to produce electricity for a house and power a vehicle?  Or will purely electric motors power all types of vehicles?  Will we have electricity transmitted from a central place to power both houses and cars?  Could we build roads that use inductors to transfer power to vehicles travelling anywhere?  Could pedal powered vehicles be used at times?

Learning will be lifelong process.  We never stop learning about Jehovah and his purposes.

I am very interested in oceanography and I am looking forward to caring for the ocean and ocean creatures in the new system.

I spent many years in the oil industry and I think that job will change a lot in the new system.

I can't wait to see the organization. With the children, parents will be even better teaching their kids about the new world and Jehovah. I recall hearing comments and seeing pictures of how Jehovah will have a grand resurrection in an orderly fashion and we teach these ones as well getting them up to date.

As for the power sources I like the idea of pure electricity and hydrogen fuel cells, I think we all will learn how to care for the earth better and come up with new ways to use various sources of energy without the hazardous consequences like in this system... With most things that were invented like motor vehicles I feel we will still have them, but I do question large ones such as planes and boats. What I think we could use them for is if we take large group trips or something like we do with Bethel and I think we should still be able to whale watch... Imagining everyone having their own individual boats to do activities like that seems it would get crowded fast...

This also led me to wonder about the earth in general because how many people have died and all with them being resurrected and those who were not able to have children who want the opportunity should... So I cannot wait what Jehovah has in store for all the questions we have for him about the future 😄

When I was younger I wanted to study marine biology. I still do. And get back into scuba diving, which I haven't done since 2010.

In the new system, Jehovah willing, I would like to be a naturalist. This is someone who studies plants, animals, and the natural world, often through direct observation in the field rather than laboratory experimentation. They focus on understanding ecosystems, species interactions, and natural history.

Since Jehovah knows me best I will be excited to learn where he uses me..I have been a nurse for 40 years and retired for three. I can't wait to learn a new course . I can come back to the study of our physical body but want to do something completely different.. even cosmetology excites me. Massage therapy. Cooking..painting study of color. Every aspect of study I want to encounter .

This makes me wonder if we would need scuba diving gear or submarines anymore. Will we still be affected by water pressure? We should most definitely be able to hold our breath longer having perfect bodies. I think we would need submarine lights to be able to see because darkness is still dark no matter how perfect our eyes are 😂

Like I said with Tortuga's comment, I wonder if we will even need diving gear anymore, or will there be some limitations of what our perfect bodies would be able to do? Since there won't be any pain we shouldn't be doing anything that would hurt us. And there couldn't be anything to harm us, even to ourselves? 🤔 Another Jehovah question. 😅

It looks like we're going to be buddying up to learn being Naturalist together 😊 I used to want to be an exotic veterinarian, or one of those people on National Geographic or Animal Planet researching, taking pictures and videos of those rare to find animals, or even an author who helps write those giant DK and Smithsonian books.

In the New World, I want to be everything, do every job, I want to know EVERYTHING! The best part is that we will live for eternity and the knowledge to gain will never end 💜

I want to study space :) and go there too :D

This I am very interested in as well. I wonder how that will work 🤔 I'm sure we're still going to have meetings and conventions so it looks like when we build the rocket we're going to have to have a miniature Kingdom Hall... or even make the rocket big enough to be its own building like what they are doing for Ramapo have its own kitchen, rooms, and everything else we would need 😄 like the movie Wall-E but without the obesity and earth will be cared for by other brothers and sisters who want to learn more and enjoy it longer.

This also leads me to wonder if teleportation will be possible because everything in space is so far and takes forever to get to 🤯

Jesus showed that a perfect body can feel pain and die, so I definitely plan to use SCUBA gear...😁

In my reply to Barbllm, I expressed the same desires. With everyone doing their current jobs, they will have a head start on subjects that they were doing in the system of things and now in the New World get to learn about the perfect aspects of it + what they wanted to in the past but couldn't 💜 If they were not done away with.

I wasn't thinking clearly... And we just had the readings of Jesus last days on earth and the talk for the memorial. I feel so bad for not making the connection. How careless of me 😭

It's so hard for my imagination to go too far. So intend to think of the future as similar to what we have now except PERFECT! I THINK of being trained on every job there is then rotating assignments every few hundred years. A barrista (surely we will still have lovely coffee shops to visit/relax/enjoy with friends. Two hundred years. Then go to learn and sew fashion. Two hundred years. Then go and study about horticultural --two hundred years. Captian a yacht --two hundred years. I want to do every job and experience it all.

You mentioned coffee shops, and I would love to actually grow my own coffee beans and harvest them.
