JW library bug - iPadOS 26 (iPad mini)

Recommended Posts

Whenever I open JW library (yes, every time) the icons appear like this:

as you can see the text labels are not aligned. Now you might think, that’s not a huge issue. Well here’s what happens if I then try to play a video or audio:

the only solution is to rotate my iPad to another orientation and back,  but I normally keep my iPad locked in portrait mode… So every time I open JW Library, before I can confidently use it, I have to unlock the orientation, rotate my iPad (with JW library open, otherwise it doesn’t solve) to landscape, and then back to portrait, and then lock it again to portrait (so I can read and move device without the screen rotating)

Has anyone else experienced this since updating to iPadOS 26? If so, which model are you using? And which “multitasking experience” did you choose in Settings? (There are 3, classic full screen, Windowed, and Stage manager)

I use windowed mode

update I think it may be because I tend to use my iPad “upside down” portrait (even though there is technically no real upside down…)

there is no home button, only volume and a power button along the one short edge. I suppose most use it with the power button at top but I prefer the power button at bottom because it’s easier to reach for Touch ID authentication and volume - I never have to reach to access those.

Even though I discovered the “problem” it should still be fixed, no? I wonder, should I email jwlibrary@jw.org or would they not bother fixing it? (this is the email on our official app listing on google play; it seems to be the same email for all platforms, I assume)

I use iPadOS 26.4.2 and I have an iPad Mini 5th generation.

When I open JW Library (version 15.8 [842584]) on this device, all of my icons are in a row with their descriptions right beside them.  I checked in all positions of the screen and the icons rotated correctly in all places.

The iPad has to be “upside down” when the app first launches. Try force quitting JW library first, then turn iPad “upside down” (with camera at bottom), and launch the app from this orientation.

Well, Brandon.  I tried the force quitting first, turning with camera at bottom and then launching the app.  All good.

Then I tried the same sequence (force quitting, etc) in all the other positions and then launching the app.  All good.

Then I tried shutting the tablet down (physically off) and used all positions and then relaunched the app.  All good.

Then I tried the same sequence (force quitting, etc) in all positions with and without 'dark mode' and then launching the app.  All good.

I don't know what to say, sorry.
