Idk about the algorithms but I've only had problems on tiktok. I don't use it very much

Today's social media is the equivalent to the town market in ancient times, where (among buying and selling stuff) rumours and latest news was exchanged.

I've seen people talking about how more JWs should be online to outweigh apostates or something. My tip, if someone isnt online, keep them off. The internet is getting worse and worse. Let them protect/keep their peace.

Be careful - as it would be foolish to go on the Internet for the purpose of debating or fighting with apostates.

Doesn’t it seem a little ironic that they announced the pilot would be exclusively in english, but now they posted at least 2 German language articles 🙊

The place of the town market was the public square (otherwise it would be more like a privately owned shopping mall).

 

Most of current social media is also privately owned. For more thinking about the consequences I can recommend:

No, I don’t think so. 
 

1. Pilot is only in English because of it doesn’t work less resources were used. 
 

2. News outlets link quite often to sources in other languages if there are no official translation/statement in English.

I see the wisdom in staying off social media if one can afford to. Myself, it was barely a week ago or so that I deactivated my X (Twitter account), and I am not on Tiktok, Facebook, Telegram or Instagram. A few days ago, I saw the whiteboard animation about social media come up on JW Library, and I could relate to the points discussed, as those were the very reasons for which I had earlier decided to stay off X (Twitter) and the likes. I ended up thanking Jehovah and the Slave in my heart, as it truly was food at the proper time for me. The only social media resources I have now are WhatsApp and JWTalk (if one can refer to those as social media), and I'm okay with those. So if one can afford to stay off, by all means!

Harvesting personal data is part of WA for years.

Agree for recommendation about Signal. TG lacks e2e encryption in a lot of ways imho.

You’re not wrong. Telegram is a lot like Discord; calls are the only things that are e2ee by default. But it has a lot of social features but without ads (except in channels, but you can pay a small monthly fee for “premium” and all in-channel ads are gone)

 

of course Discord only allows like 10MB attachments for free users whereas Telegram allows up to 1500MB files for free! That’s why it’s an ideal tool for sending files; unlimited file storage!

I disagree with this logic 

 

That's like saying that you won't preach in a town because there's one apostate that lives there.

 

If we are unwilling to be visible to others, then the apostates are going to preach their false gospel and that would be the only exposure the public will have about us

Please put yourselves in the shoes of the unbelievers: when they search up "JW" on a search engine, the vast majority of results they get are sources that are against us. So this shapes their view about our religion. We could easily outweigh these with more presence online so they can see the truth, see who we really are.

Hi Jason, I like the way you think!

 

I personally don't believe that any 

amount of apostate content on the Internet (with JWs being present or not) would prevent Jehovah from spreading his Word and touching hearts.

 

But that was not the point of my message, right? I meant that we should not put ourselves at risk by going against apostate ourselves. I am sure Jehovah is using jw.org, jw_pressroom, and all our other official websites the best way possible to do just that.
