What are you supposed to put in a go bag?

I feel like I had been on the go for too many years, facing a lot of emergencies on life.

Are you supposed to have one per person?

It's nerve wracking just thinking about it.

All I can think of is water and a torch and batteries.

Beyond that, I just panic.

My son was in hospital once for two years and I saw him every day and packed several bags a day, but trying to think of this ultimate go bag throws me in confusion 😅😕

There are some lists of recommended items around there, but they are just suggestions. It may be more useful to think, in case there was a disaster in your area, what would you need to survive for three days until help arrives? That depends a lot of where you live.

The most important thing you will need is drinkable water. You don't necessarily need one bag per person, but if you put just two litres of water per person, it's probably too much weight for one single bag.

A torch and batteries is a good idea. So is a small radio (so you can listen to the news or any instructions by the authorities), a knife and a first aid kit. Photocopies of important documents and a small amount of cash can be very useful. Is it usually very cold where you live? Then a blanket could useful. Or you can buy a thermal emergency blanket at the chemist's which is like tinfoil, very light, doesn't take any space and costs around 2 or 3 pounds. You can also include a small amount of packed food that is easy to prepare and eat. But remember this is just to survive three days, you don't need a lot of food, maybe a can of something, some nuts or a protein bar. If there are some drugs you or your sons cannot go by without, you could add a few of them, but don't forget to replenish them periodically because drugs usually expire soon.

Those are the basics. From there you can add what you consider you may need, depending on the money you can afford, of course. For example, we have an usb phone charger with a small solar panel and a crank, so that we can charge our phones even if there is no electricity.

Actually, we don't need so many things to survive three days, and anyway it's impossible to anticipate every need. So don't be stressed about this. Just include a few items you may need and that's it. The congregation will always be there to help.
