This reminds me of the mother who got caught by surprise when her 8 year old came home and asked where he came from. She thought that she would have more time and he would be older before she had to explain "the facts of life".

She sat him down and went into great detail about how babies are made and how they grow in their mommy's tummy until they are born. She tried to put it all into words and terms an 8 year old would understand. It took about a half an hour that felt like 4 hours.

When she was done he looked at her with a perplexed look on his face and said,"That's all very interesting, but Johnny said he is from Denver and Mary is from Chicago, where did I come from?"

The moral - make sure YOU understand the question before launching into an answer.

Fortunately for us, we live "in the country" with several farm animals and my kids knew exactly where and how babies are born ... never had to explain it.
