Yes they were found in York now though there is a huge debate on whether to rebury him at York or in Westminster Cathedral... I watched a great programe on it, he must have been in such pain with such a bad curvature of the spine

He was found in a car park in Leicester - further South of England than York because it was originally the site of a monastic cemetery  of the nearest religious house to where he fell in battle.

He was the last Plantageanet King and King of the House of the White Rose of York (1452-85).

Before becoming king - under his father King Edward he was High Sheriff of our area too.

After becoming King, disgruntled lords turned against him and helped Henry Tudor come back from France to get the throne off him and up brewed another part of the 'Wars of the Roses' - Henry being of the Red Rose House of Lancaster and Tudor. He won, his supporters killed the King and York continued to be trounced and nobles who had supported York continued to be hammered and executed on under the later Henry VIII Tudor.

The city of York is petitioning the Queen to have his remains sent back to York to have a funeral in their Cathedral York Minster and be interred there as he was the last King of the House of York and his various homes/castles and ancestors/family are in that area. Leicester wants to keep him with them to attract tourists and their University has the rights to his bones at present. Then there are others who want a Royal burial at Westminster - but this is where is enemies were buried, so the Queen is reluctant to get involved. She's of German Royal family extraction herself, when the last Tudor, then Stuart, then House of Orange members on England's throne's family died out and UK had to import more distant relatives to fill the empty throne, they looked to the Royal families of Germany.
