Our weekend meeting has been on Saturday at 2.30pm forever but a few weeks ago the elder body decided to put it to a vote that we change to Saturday 10am. This was mainly due to the fact that many people are out for one reason or another on Saturday mornings, so a lot of NAHs.
Congs that already have a Saturday morning meeting have found that there are many more in by lunchtime on a Saturday, hence the desire for a change.
The vote came back as a 'yes' and I'm very happy about it.

I have been attending meetings, and participated in field service, since 1949. Over these years I have seen many variations on meeting times.
The most significant difference I remember was when I first came to Pensacola in the early 1060s. Prior to that, congregations I attended almost universally had weekend meetings at 3:00 Sunday afternoon (I was told this was so that newly interested ones could still attend their old church services Sunday morning, and then could come to the Kingdom Hall in the afternoon).
When I came to Pensacola, the weekend meetings were at 4:30 Sunday afternoon. At first this seemed VERY unusual to me. But then I realized that there were several chemical manufacturing facilities in Pensacola. These facilities operated 24/7. They had four "shifts" to keep the facilities manned. The shifts were (1) 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, (2) 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and (3) 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Every week the shift groups would change chifts. There were four "shift groups" so that one shift would always have a week off, whereas the other three would be working every day of the week.
This was called "swing shift" scheduling.
If the Sunday afternoon meetings were at 3:00 PM it would keep the brothers on the 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM shift away from the meeting, AND the keep the brothers on the 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM shift away from the meeting. By moving the meeting to 4:30 PM it would only keep the brothers on the 3:00PM ti 11:00PM away.
It was a solution that worked best for the many brothers in the congregation that worked the "swing shift" schedule.
Thanks,
Jim

Last Tuesday I had the privilege of visiting the Australasian Branch. Although we were able to drive around the set, they were filming that day so we were restricted in how much we could do. For those who are curious, the third and final part of episode 8 was being filmed.
Lunch was delicious and the company at our table was amazing. One of the sisters was from Finland and one lived in Thailand and they both worked in remote translation departments. A third sister was also in translation but she lived locally and commuted to the branch. The other 3 at our table were Bethelites, a married couple and a single brother. The latter had organised a surprise for our table and we got to go and see where all the inside filming was done and how they made the different sets for indoor scenes. Some outdoor scenes which didn't need large areas are also being filmed inside. One of the sets for an outdoor scene had just been built and it was incredible to see how it had been done and the materials that were used to build it and make it look like it was outside. We'll all be watching out to see if we can spot it in a future episode.
