  1. Thank you. Apologies if I inadvertently added to the workload of things to hide ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
  2. As Floyd said, make sure you have dual monitor use setup in Zoom settings, as per the branch direction. When this is set up it means the platform monitors actually have both the JW app and the second zoom windows displayed at the same time - it's just that one is in front of the other, ( has the focus over the other.) So you only see one as it's full screen. Then if you hover your mouse over either the zoom icon or the JW app icon on the taskbar 2 small preview windows will popup - one is the main program window, the other is the second screen window. Just click on the second screen you want and it will come to the front, or be the visible focused window, on the platform screens. Doing this makes it pretty smooth to switch between them.
  3. Just a general comment on this subject, - perhaps not applicable directly to the question asked, but just to point out that the direction for meeting parts is that we don't use video clips in meeting parts unless we are directed to do so. Still images are fine. Sfl 20:20. But there are exceptions like sign language congregations.
  4. same green screen as I have. ๐Ÿ™‚ Just be aware that JW stream studio has no facility for using a green screen or virtual background. So if you have an item on the program and plan to use it you will need to use an external program, eg OBS. Also it's worth mentioning this is the guidence given to brothers with parts on JW stream studio..... " If possible, use a blank wall for your background. Avoid backgrounds with very bright lighting or distracting objects. Do not use a virtual background." But In reality as long as your virtual background doesn't look like a virtual background to those viewing, and your lighting is really good, the tech team might be fine with it, but just be prepared you may be asked to remove it if it's causing problems or is distracting, so have a plan B in mind.
  5. Perhaps try logging out of the account, set up a free one using a different email address, log in on the new free account, start a meeting and try screen share. This might help determine if it's a setting somewhere, as AFAIK a different free account will just have the default settings loaded. The settings used during the meeting will be specific to the account used for that.
  6. I've done the update and all is good. i can share JW library both as a window and using second screen. Perhaps check your sharing settings in the settings tab on zoom.us Especially the one under " meetings (basic)" > "disable desktop screen sharing for meetings you host". If this is set to on, apps such as JW library, are no longer available to screen share.
  7. Just a couple of tips re: virtual backgrounds. - lighting is the most important thing. If using a green screen you need consistent lighting across it. So make sure the green screen is a flat and wrinkle free as possible. ( Mine is stretched over a frame. ) Use lighting from more than one angle to minimise shadows. Eg imagine you are stood at the point of a triangle - you get best effect with at least 2 lights placed at the other points of the triangle in front of you. ( This is similar to what the JW stream studio manual recommends.) - if setting a plain background as your virtual background, use a textured image, - any block of colour behind you with no texture or variation is going to look unnatural. Eg I use a light cream background but it's a picture of a light cream wall so it has imperfections and gradients and most dont realise it's not a real wall behind me. I also use a light blue version sometimes.
  8. Ok, I understand now. I have used OBS in a similar way as a virtual camera capture device and it worked well.
  9. Isn't this just the same as turning on the view media in second screen option in JW library and then capturing the window, except there's the added complication of OBS and OBS virtual Camera drivers being in the middle of it all? ๐Ÿ˜ But it does work fine for capturing other apps.
  10. In JW library app ( on windows) if you go into settings select the play video on second screen option, and then restart the app. - if you have physical 2 nd screen connected the media will play there. - if you only have 1 screen then the app will open a second window that will display media just as the real second screen would. You can then capture that in zoom screen share.
  11. I think we will use technology in the new system. Jehovah designed us to be inventive and to get pleasure from problem solving and finding ways to do things, so I think we will continue to use IT ( or whatever we will call it then ) My backround is in the electrical / electronics fields and it's interesting that virtually all the harmfull / wastefull / dangeourous things are due to having to get things done in a certain time or at a certain price or to be able to serve a large number of people. When scaled down or slowed down or looked at without greed being a factor most of the things we would view as bad to us spiritually, physically dangeourous or environmentally harmfull in the electrical / electronics field actually wouldn't be.
  12. That would work although it goes full screen so you can't see anything else on a smaller device. But if a phone/tablet is the only option it's the best way to do it. Our WT conductor doesn't have a laptop and so uses 2 devices, - a phone for the participants list and a tablet to see everything else.
  13. Oh and just to add that all that Tony has said above is good advice. It's been about 12 years since I last played with this sort of kit in my day job, and back then the posh ones came with a measuring tape to set up your room distances! Apparently nowadays they come with sensors and microphones!
  14. Ok, so in a surround sound setup you main volume level comes from the front left and right and the centre speaker. The rear left and right are there to give direction and a feeling of space and openness to the sound, but this is done at a much lower volume apart from the occasional loud effect. Also depending on the amp and the setup, if the rear speakers are fed from a surround sound amp you might find on many of the sound profiles you will only get a significant output from the rear speakers when your are sending a 5.1 or 7.1 audio encoded signed to the amp, eg from a DVD or movie. In "normal" audio not much will come from the rear. But most amps will have a sound profile that you can select that will send the front signals to the rears as well for normal audio, but that is then useless for surround sound. Don't be tempted to crank up the rears so you can hear a lot of volume from them because when that occasional loud sound effect comes from the rear it will blow you out your chair! Line level, ( 0 dB ) is usually where it's designed to operate at. The surround amp will usually sort out any needed delay - ofton it will ask for distances or room layout information to set it up. Again don't be tempted to manually try to do it better!
  15. Ah, sorry about that. I guess I did what some of the TV gameshows used to do..... " Here's what you would have won....." As for the in app video playback, I still find using JW library with a second screen as easy and you have the added advantage of it looking just like the screens at the hall used to, ( eg. year text on screen then into the image or video. No extra bars or bits of windows or random mice etc )
  16. Go to settings - background and filters Or alternatively click on the little up arrow on the start video button and select chose virtual background. The blur option is the first one after none.
  17. AHH ok, sounds like it's using a direct connection. so it's still using WiFi but the TV sets up its own WiFi hotspot that the laptop connects to, separate to your main WiFi. I think it used to be called DLNR or something like that. I think some Miracast systems and Google/Roku guest connections can do this too. So if it's that sort of system the range is usually shorter or weaker than a normal WiFi network, and possibly more prone to interference. The original projector spec for kingdom halls in the UK used this and I never once got it to work properly. I ended up making up an HDMI cable for it. If your TV has the option to use your home WiFi network instead of it's own hotspot that might help.
  18. zoom has 3 types of updates. it has web only ( we dont use - its for testing purposes only. ) it has manual updates that need to be Manually done as mentioned. it also can push automatic updates that force all users to update when they log in. there is no option to choose whether you update automatically or not. most updates are manual, occasionally zoom will push a auto update which will force everyone to update to a certain version level.
  19. Unlike some here who are promoting Materialism...... ๐Ÿ˜‰ i would suggest first to check a few settings and whether there are alternatives.. screen sharing, especially at high resolution uses a lot of bandwidth on your network. so are there any settings on the laptop to reduce the quality of the video stream? also are there devices using the network that dont need to be. the more devices using your network will reduce bandwidth or highlight any instability. also many screensharing solutions such as miracast or samsungs own version of it are ( in my experience ) rather prone to stopping even on a good connection. so is there another screensharing software you can try - some are better than others but you will be limited by what the tv has the capability to receive. I use NDI to send video in my home network but I am sending laptop to a mini pc mounted on the back of my "dumb" tv so I have more options than a smart tv. finally at the end of the day you wont get more reliable than using a hard wired connection, hdmi, DVI, even VGA is better that an unreliable intermittant or pixilating picture.
  20. as soon as you go into the advanced settings (web interface) most of the things you change are account settings not individual ones. so any changes you make will apply to meetings YOU host or set up, but not necessarily to meetings set up or hosted by others. the general idea is that a meeting or conference host can disable features that he doesn't want participants to be able to access, eg extra things that may be distractions or disruptive depending on his use case. so the bottom line is if the individual meeting host turns them off you cant turn them back on.
  21. as far as i know, the current update is a manual one. So the brothers might be assuming that because they haven't had the update dialog popup they are fully up to date. But if they haven't done any manual updates they now are several versions behind. zoom will eventually push a compulsory update but until then they need to go into account settings and do a manual check for update. you may need to tactfully enquire further ๐Ÿ™‚
  22. This is exactly what we did. - Set the web port on only-T. - Open that port on my Router, and also set the router to update no-ip with my network address. - Set up no-ip to look at that port. ( I also pay for yearly no-ip service as I also use it for LDC site CCTV monitoring and saves having to log back in each month to keep the service active.) - Then give the brothers the no-ip address that points to the only-T port on the computer. For example mine is: http://avservices.hopto.org:8096/index
  23. That's true Floyd, that ideally the brothers would look after there own timing. But when our K.Hall had its last refurb a timing screen and software was fitted as part of the sound package and I think the brothers have got used to it, especially the newer ones who have always had a timing screen to look at. Certainly I know that when we stopped meeting in the hall and started using zoom our talk timings went dramatically downhill until I set up the remote timing system. And now I think about it we even use the same system at assembly's and conventions, so even experienced brothers can benefit from it. ๐Ÿ™‚
  24. Just be very, very , carefull with any links to this. The two youtube accounts that feature it, are stuffed with apostates in the comments, claiming all sorts of things and posting links and websites and unfortunately a few brothers are engaging in replys to them. It being marketed as an album promoting a sort of unity of faith between religions, kind of an interfaith album, plus it's being sold at Christmas. So surely bethel have had 0% input or association in this. Plus the licence / copyright is shown to a song arranger and 2 music production companys
  25. I think, (AFAIK) that websites such as https://haveibeenpwned.com/ are checking on lists of email addresses, such as those for sale on the dark web. So the fact you email address shows up means only that you're email address is on one of these lists. But given the number of data breaches from big company's over the past few years that's not surprising. In fact every older email address I've ever had is on there. Now, it might, ( but only might) also mean that if a password has been leaked along with your address that might also be there. So the best thing you can do is change any passwords you might have used on more than one site, or on sites that have had data breaches. This will secure any account or website you do it on, but your email address will still flag up a warning as it hasn't changed. ( And doesn't need to) In reality a password used only for JW.org is very unlikely to have been obtained by someone else. If any doubt check the device history log on jw.org or change the password.
