Jimmy and Marilyn Kennedy had it all in the world of entertainment but later became one of JW.I have just read their life story  in the 1986 Awake July 22 pages 17-20..I read about this book on a blog and wish to know first what's all about  the book before  getting a copy .Anyone who has ever read the book or heard about the book?

I knew the couple. They went to a congregation near us. He was a very funny man. He gave the greatest talks. Had a lot of fun with them. Both have died, but not forgotten. His sense of humor run's.

Christian parents would consider this story of life with his family on the night of worship in family
Could someone tell us how the Kennedy encouraged them, gave them spirits, in the end, we can continue to learn from this kind of brothers that remain alive to Jehovah-if there are brothers or sisters knewing to Marilyn and James Kennedy, may be in their last congregation.

He was an inspiration to the young people and he loved to be around them. They would go to Burger King after service and he would keep everyone in stitches. The brothers and sisters really loved him and his wife. She was one of the original June Taylor Dancers when they met. It was very sad to see the ravages of time pummel his body. He was very sick during the end of his life. Very sad.

You asked what this book was about. It is about his life as an entertainer and how he knew all the big name people in the entertainment world and how he and his wife got the truth. He was able to do so much for the brothers in NY because of his connections. I liked what Vernalee had to say about him. We need more like him.

I went down to help Bro. Kennedy's home after the hurricane damaged it.  During lunch he put on a routine for us.  Sorta his way of thanking us for helping him out.   He was classic.   He told me that afternoon that most of his jokes came from his wife Sis. Marilyn.  He always gave her the credit.....true class.  He came to our hall that fall and gave the public talk.  We were all in anticipation for it since he was well known for his talks.   After the meeting I approached him and asked to see his notes for the talk.  He handed me a 3 x 5 card with just 4 scriptures on it...that was it!!!!  He gave the best 45 min talk on just 4 scriptures for notes.   I was blown away.  He told me."It's not the quantity of things you have, it's knowing how to use them."  I am so looking forward to seeing my brother again!! His parting words to me as he got into his car to go home...."Brother,,,you know what I would do if I were in your shoes?.....I would polish them!"

Yes, we have this book and it is absolutely so funny. We loved it and we keep it in our library. Some of the things they did were just over the top. I would recommend  that the book should be read by all Witnesses.

 

 Let me see, this is a great Book, everybody should have a copy of this Book, but the name of this book is a secret.

 

Did I get this right? 

 I am not sying I am Superman, I am only saying that nobody has ever seen Superman  and me in a room together.

The book did tell about his life, his time in the entertainment business and many of the celebrities he rubbed shoulders

with. It also told about the brother who helped him come into the truth. The book is a classic. I wish I still had a copy but

when we took a trip to New York to visit world headquarters I ended up giving my book to the man who was our bus

driver. We had had many problems on that trip and he was not very impressed with Jehovah's witnesses. In fact having

had toured the Societies facilities he told me he felt Jehovah's witnesses reminded him more of a business than a religion.

( His comments reminded me of criticisms we received years ago that we were just book salesmen ). So to try an offset

that and the number of negative experiences we had on the trip I gave him the book, because it was such a good witness.

I wonder now what his impressions were after reading it. At least it should have dispelled some of his negative feelings.

I hope this answers some of the questions asked.
