Japan’s emergency agencies declared a tsunami warning for the region that includes the crippled Fukushima nuclear site. The earthquake occurred outboard (east) of the Japan Trench, which marks the seafloor expression of the subduction zone plate boundary between the Pacific and North America plates, and is immediately up-dip of the source region of the March 2011 M 9.0 Tohoku earthquake. The location, depth, and focal mechanism of the October 25 2013 event are consistent with normal faulting rupture near the outer-arc high of the Japan Trench. In this region, normal faulting is encouraged by both the bending of the Pacific plate as it enters the subduction zone, and by stresses transferred from the locked subduction thrust interface to the west. Since the March 2011 Tohoku earthquake, two large events of M 7.7 and M 7.3 have occurred in the vicinity of the October 25, 2013 earthquake. [...]

Those poor people.. I couldn't imagine living there..

I studied Japanese culture & learnt some dialect years ago... They are such mild people.. At least from the ones I have met. That is my experience...

 

I recently saw an interview from some surviors from the last tsunami...

They had a business in the soy sauce..they are a top company in Japan & have won many awards for their product..

they lived somewhere up in the mountains..Everyday the boss would make the workers have a practise run up & down these stairs to the highest part of the Mountain where a shrine or building stood..

When that tsunami did hit. Most of the workers ran up to that shrine. & lived, some didn't make it.

& the banks of Japan invested in this company,,Saying they didn't want to loose the company as they brought much trade to the country. That's suming this story in a nutshell.

This is awful they just had. 7.2 about two weeks ago in the Philippines ( Bohol & Cebu) brothers are really suffering as relief is slow and destruction is extensive . Just seems these things are increasing rapidly one on the heals of another.
