Here's a list of the 20 least religious countries (article) in the world. This is from an encyclopedia chapter summarizing survey data from various countries. Obviously the quality of surveys varies widely across countries, so the author, Phil Zuckerman of Claremont College, gives ranges for each country.

1. Sweden (up to 85% non-believer, atheist, agnostic)
2. Vietnam
3. Denmark
4. Norway
5. Japan
6. Czech Republic
7. Finland
8. France
9. South Korea
10. Estonia (up to 49% non-believer, atheist, agnostic)
11. Germany
12. Russia
13. Hungary
14. Netherlands
15. Britain
16. Belgium
17. Bulgaria
18. Slovenia
19. Israel
20. Canada (up to 30% non-believer, atheist, agnostic)

A good amount of them in the Westren world.

I was listening to a brother that was saying that "Albania" was at or near the top of the list .. I looked into it and he's right so I can't vouch for this list above - noting that it comes from someone seemingly pushing his atheist position. But over all those countries are becoming more non religious at a rapid pace.

You notice the country proclaimed as the most free ( Sweden ) is the least religious.

The States would be on the top 20 except they worship :gun-toot:   & their bellies - especially after eating deep fried foods at the local fair - afterwards they grab their belly and say :omg:

Consciousness, that annoying time between naps!

That's very atheistic - man would be better without religion. Not surprised.

Interesting to see Vietnam as #2.

That might explain the low response we get here too.

That has to be tough on the friends there. I read a story about a Christian living in VN and right after the war they were imprisoned and subjected to massive amounts of "re-education" - They were force feed Stalin and other communistic writings daily. Ones that stuck to their faith and could not be re-educated were shot...

Heartbreaking...
