Mason jar margaritas

Recommended Posts

Had a Mexican themed dinner party for the sisters and prepared margaritas in advance (night before). I poured the margaritas into the mason jars then recapped with their lids--placed in freezer until the next evening when ready to serve.

When they started arriving they would go pull their margarita out of the freezer and grab a few canapés while I plated the food. No noisy blender and no mess. All they had to do was unscrew the lid and quickly rim the edge with salt or sugar as desired and the drink was perfect! Very slushy because the alcohol prevents it from freezing solid.

Such a nice head start on the evening!

When I hear the word jar all I can visualize is all the canning my sister and I used to do.  One night I was up ALL NIGHT waiting for the corn to finish  - finally did about 3 a.m. and then I went to bed.  How upset I was when, taking the jars out of the cooker (can't think of the word now), and found that the lids did not seal.  I don't think I have ever canned anything since.  But, I REALLY like the idea of a margarita in a jar!  Thanks for the idea.
