Is there any news about how the friends are doing in the Ukraine

we received this email from friends in Ukraine  who just visited the convention in Atlanta as Delegates:

 

Hello our dear

We have long wanted to write to you but we can't. Because of war in Ukraine we were forced to run to another country and we lost all email addresses.

There are many soldiers with automatic guns in the city. They withdraw cars from the civilian. The region where we live was bombed. Many houses were damaged. A brother from our congregation was killed by missile. He went to take a car for take away his family from Donetsk. A half a day we hided in the basement. Shooting did not stop. We ran to our home to take some stuff. In the same day in the evening we ran away from Donetsk. We drove to Odessa all night. From Odessa we went to Moldova and stay in our relatives.

Last week we found a Kingdom Hall. Brothers very warm met us and encouraged us. They invited us to visit them and try to help us to find work. We told them a lot about convention in Atlanta and they were very glad to hear about it. We see how Jehovah cares about us. At least we are safe

We love you and miss you and we can't wate for paradise. Please keep in touch

That email breaks my heart. To hear firsthand the unrest many of our brothers & sisters deal with....wow!

The report about Ukraine and Crimea that was published at JW.org's newsroom on 18 July mentioned a brother being killed "in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk" "when a bomb exploded next to his car". The article said that, by that date, "No other Witnesses have been killed or seriously injured."

 

We don't know when that letter sister Samira received was dated, but I suppose (and hope) he is the same brother that is mentioned in the letter. I hope there are no more victims among our brothers.

Saw on the news today that NATO is offering it's support to Ukraine as the conflict there is still escalating.

Am praying for our faithful brothers in the Ukraine.  Your faith makes us strong when the danger of complacency is what can affect us here in peaceful NZ. Who knows when we will be affected as well?  In the meantime will do our best physically { contribute to world wide work} and spiritually.  Nearly 1/2 the cong pioneering during jw.org  campaign. Have to run to keep up with Jehovahs chariot now.
