What's for dinner tonight?

Recommended Posts

I purchased the mats off qvc shopping channel.  I really liked them while they were around.  I have children (adults) who still think what's mine is their's!  They disappeared after a family dinner.  ;)

We are making Buttermilk Biscuits and Sausage Gravy for supper tonight.

Sorry, no pics yet, my youngest daughter is still using the kitchen (she is baking some cream cheese sugar cookies) so we have to wait till she is done before we start the biscuits.

I never think to remember about asking my daughter about these mats when I see her until I was looking at my cell at her house while looking at this forum.  So I casually inquired , ''Hey, Nicki, do you remember those blue baking mats I use to have? I haven't been able to find them for the longest time.  Do you know where they are?' --- Immediately she said 'you gave them to me Mom'. Really?  I don't remember.  'Yep. You said 'you should get you some of these for baking cookies with the kids!  They bake so evenly and don't leave your pans a mess.you will love them!'  So I got me some!'

I was a little taken back at first.  Seems a might like thievery.  But my husband said that I always let the kids, have, borrow, get what they want or need so she probably felt she could take them.  Anyway, they are being used more now that when I had them, but to be sure, I didn't have them that long before I 'gave' them away.  Mystery solved.

For years, since the kids were small I have been a collector, hoarder of dishes, glasses, cookware.  I buy serving dishes from QVC like it will be the last dish ever produced.  When I make things for coworkers, neighbors, friends, family I will deliver it one of these beautiful dishes and they have the benefit of the meal and the memory of the dish!  I enjoy going to others homes and seeing my favorite dishes in their kitchens!

Leslie,

Do you like the Temp-tations nesting bowls....they have a lot of different sizes, color design and patterns.

I've never purchased any yet, but, I think that they are very colorful and pretty.

@nanceebgd46 I LOVE anything Temptations!  Please do yourself a favor and buy them! I think I have really contributed to the success of their line! ;)

this is my go to for serving dishes!!! I can not speak highly enough about it.

Nothing sticks to them!  I do mean nothing!  I left the house one day with a lasagne in the oven to run to the store.  I got sidetracked and forgot about the oven being on. not only did it burn but actually turned to charcoal.  I knew I would have to throw the dish away.  I felt broke at heart because I loved that dish!  After it cooled, I took a metal spatula to in thinking I would just pull the majority of the food out and toss it.  But to my surprise it came out in one piece!  I put some soapy water in it and then then black stains came off too!  I am a true believer in Tempatagions! Not only are they beautiful but functional for so many things. I have used the mixing bowls to bake in also!  They are not limited in any way.

Do you remember their Sandwich and soup combos?  I have purchased about 10 sets of four over the years.  When friends are sick, busy, need cheering up I have made homemade soups, stew, chicken n dumplibgs, etc and sandwiches and delivered them on those sets of dishes for them to keep!  Everyone has asked where I got them because they quickly became their favorite dishes too!

i love cooking with David although I am quite tired of his Happy Dance.  Everything I have gotten cook wise from QVC has been wonderful!

Chef Copper pot --do t get me started!  ;)

I didn't really think you were going to know what I was talking about.:D

It's hard to believe that you were able to save your...favorite...lasagna

casserole pan. It must of been before my QVC days when they were offering

the Sandwich and soup combos for sale...I missed them!

You show your kindness gene Leslie...being able to make homemade

soup and sandwiches etc. to help out the friends when there sick or

feeling downhearted....and leaving the sandwich and soup dishes with the friends.:)

I do watch ....cooking with David too....and I agree with you on the "Happy Dance"...enough

already.  I try to be careful about purchasing on impulse....and then regretting it...I've got

it pretty much under control.

I just knew that you were a great cook....and that you enjoy it...you get something

worthwhile out of the whole process!  I use to be a pretty good cook, but, now I live alone

and I keep it simple.  I'll certainly think of you next time I watch a Temp-tations

show.

We are old. Down to two meals a day. Breakfast, and a meal at about 2:30. Then a light snack in the evening, like a bit of popcorn!

Same here! Except no popcorn, sm icecream.

This is the way I've always eaten Bea. I remember as a teen eating tea and toast for breakfast, skip lunch and eat when I got home from school. Never been a night eater. When I cook dinner it generally gets started by 3 and is ready at 5, eating commences anytime after that for MH and Chuck- who eats here frequently.

And yes on the popcorn snack, cheddar popcorn!!, but I'm trying to retrain myself to get back in the habit of a FiberOne bar or Balance bar with my night time tea instead.

Nice substitute for the cheese, or addition to, is large flake Nutritional Food Yeast by Red Mill, and just a little sea salt..has a buttery taste..

I worked with a gal who would rummage through the fridge when she would get up in the night. She could not believe when I would get up, I would not head for the fridge.

The snack in the early evening. We do eat a bit of popcorn, but, for both Sid and myself, it’s those high calorie items that draw us. Costco has a cream bruile...little, oh my. I try not to think about those 300 calories. I kid you not. The good thing is it’s seasonal. And I am waaaay to lazy to make it. I did check out the recipe, thought, “oh”, and promptly moved on.

Going out town today. I will get this. I use Red Mill soda for GERD, it works. (AKA, heartburn!)

I've tried the nutritional yeast but it doesn't agree with me, my stomach has it's own rules :uhhuh:

I'm such a non eater after 6 that the thought of anything beyond a couple oz of cheese or a small bowl (like 2oz) of popcorn makes me a bit queasy. That's why I'm getting back into the bars, I just bought FiberOne bars at Costco and they go well with tea.
