Kindle Fire HD Keyboard - Emoji and Swype-like

Recommended Posts

I just discovered I have Emoji on my Kindle HD Fire. Not sure when it happe ed, but am amazed that instead of tapping individual keys, you slide your fingertip from letter to letter! Had just learned of it's existance, Wednesday evening!

Swype is the BEST keyboard. So accurate and fast. I do wish it had emoji's though. If I want to use some, I have to switch over to SwiftKey (not nearly as good).

There is nothing better than not having to lift your finger off the screen to type. Enjoy!

I love Swiftkey, the "predictive text" is so accurate it is scary. But, it just tracks the way you type and "learns" the words you tend to use in sentences.

Like Bob, many rave about Swype, but I have never gotten the hang of it.

A question for Bob: Swiftkey has it's own built-in version of Swipe called "flow" and many people have told me it's as good as Swipe. have you activated it in your keyboard settings and tried it out?

I use SwiftKey with flow. After sometime it predicts so well that it is more difficult to fail than to write well. I write frequently in Spanish, Portuguese and English with the 3 languages activated at the same time with no problem whatsoever.

In my opinion nothing comes close to it... But it has a learning curve though, don't expect extraordinary results right after the installation.

But after it learns your way it never forgets, even if you switch devices, or make a complete reset

Is SwiftKey or Swype available for iMac or Apple devices?

I believe both are available in the Apple app store, but for iPhones and iPads, not MACS. Not real sure though.

EDIT: Yep :)

  • 3 weeks later...

This is a little off topic...An elder has an account on jw.org and downloaded 2 files onto a Kindle Fire..chose Moon Reader Pro to open the files..looks like code..not able to read. Another elder said that the files are PDF...Is there another bookreader app he should install? Or is there another format (such as Mobi) available for download? The other elder has an i pad..The brother's wife asked me about it...trying to find an answer..the husband isn't familiar with tablets..Kindle is Android but not what I am used to (I have Samsungs)..Thanks for any help!

There is another format available and he could also try another app.

This is how it looks on the elders' side - where we can download the km. See all the choices.

Thanks Jerry..you said there is another app? He doesn't have a computer, only the tablet..My question is: What format choices are there for "letters from the branch"? He doesn't need to download KMs..only elder only files..is Mobi available for those?

No need for a picture..just want to know because he is not techy and he has to use an old Kindle someone gave his wife...she is not very experienced either and comes to me (I am called the techy sister for Android!) Actually, without the help of friends here and Meekspace I would know even less than I do know!..Thanks!
