Religious Buildings Seized in Eastern Regions of Ukraine

As of January 2015, armed groups have forcibly taken possession of 14 Kingdom Halls (houses of worship) belonging to Jehovah’s Witnesses in Ukraine. The seized buildings are located in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in the eastern part of the country, where a violent conflict has raged for many months. These armed men have targeted Jehovah’s Witnesses because of prejudice and disregard for the Witnesses’ right to freedom of religion and association.

It must be horrible living in Ukraine as a Witness at the moment.

 

In the West you have conscription and a push for war against the separatists.

 

So on either side it is hard to maintain your Christian neutrality.

 

In the East you now have a bunch of thugs clearing Kingdom Halls to turn them into boxing gyms and kindergartens.

 

Interesting, however, is the Orthodox Church's involvement in all of this. Apparently, the militias are entering the Kingdom Halls and banishing our brothers from them stating that the Orthodox religion "is the only one allowed"
