Lyrics Viewed In a NEW Light : )

I had a few favorite songs that I loved to listen to, as I was growing up.  These songs had lyrics that caused me to sigh and say, "If only...If only..."

Now, after learning the TRUTH, I listen to these same songs and these same lyrics and I sigh and I say, "I only...these singers and songwriters could know the TRUTH. Then, they would see that the world they sang about  isn't so difficult to 'imagine' afterall."

Take this tune, for example:

"Crystal Blue Persuasion"

Written by Tommy James/ Eddie Morley Grey/Mike Vale

Look over yonder

What do you see?

The sun is a' risin’

Most definitely

A new day is coming, ooh, ooh

People are changing

Ain't it beautiful, ooh, ooh

Crystal blue persuasion

Better get ready

Gonna see the light

Love, love is the answer, ooh ooh

And that's all right

So don't you give up now, ooh ooh

So easy to find

Just look to your soul

And open your mind

Crystal blue persuasion, mmm, mmm

It's a new vibration

Crystal blue persuasion

Crystal…blue persuasion

Maybe tomorrow

When he looks down

On every green field, ooh ooh

And every town

All of his children

In every nation

There’ll be peace and good…brotherhood

Crystal blue persuasion, yeah

Crystal blue persuasion, ah-ha

Crystal blue persuasion, ah-ha

Crystal blue persuasion, ah-ha

I used to listen to these lyrics sigh and say, "If only...if only."  Now, I listen to them and smile and say,"Soon, very soon."  :D   I also switch "...and open your mind" to "...and open your door."  :uhhuh:  :D

And, then, there's this one:

"Imagine"

Words and Lyrics by John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven  (Yuppers...Paradise earth  ROCKS!!! )

It's easy if you try

No hell below us

Above us only sky

Imagine all the people

Living for today

Imagine there's no  countries

It isn't hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

And no religion, too  (Good riddance to BTG!!! (td) )

Imagine all the people

Living life in peace

You…you may say I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you ‘ll join us

And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions

I wonder if you can

No need for greed or hunger

A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people

Sharing all the world

You, you may say I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you ‘ll join us

And the world will live as one

And then, there are the songs that made me cry, before I learned the Truth, because they asked questions that I never, in a bazillion years, ever thought I would find satisfying answers to.  Not only did Jehovah allow me to find the answers I was so desperately searching for, but, along with the answers, from his letter to mankind, came "the peace of God that excels all thought." --Philippians 4:7  Thanks to Jehovah, I can now listen to these songs without crying.

"In The Year 2525"

Written by Richard Lee Evens

In the year 2525, if man is still alive

If woman can survive, they may find

In the year 3535

Ain't gonna need to the truth, tell no lie

Everything you think, do and say

Is in the pill you took today

In the year 4545

You ain't gonna need your teeth, won't need your eyes

You won't find a thing to chew

Nobody's gonna look at you

In the year 5555

Your arms hangin' limp at your sides

Your legs got nothin' to do

Some machine's doin' that for you

In the year 6565

Ain't gonna need no husband, won't need no wife

You'll pick your son, pick your daughter too

From the bottom of a long glass tube

In the year 7510

If God's a-comin’, He ought a’ make it by then

Maybe He'll look around Himself and say

"Guess it's time for the Judgement Day"

In the year 8510

God is gonna shake His mighty head

He'll either say, "I'm pleased what man has been"

Or tear us down, and start again

In the year 9595

I'm kind a’ wonderin' if man is gonna be alive

He's taken everything this old earth can give

And he ain't put back nothin’

Now it's been ten thousand years, man has cried a billion tears

For what, he never knew, now man's reign is through

But through eternal night, the twinkling of starlight

So very far away, maybe it's only yesterday

In the year 2525, if man is still alive

If woman can survive, they may find…(fade)

Knowing the people at the doors still have no hope for a happy future, inspires me to want to reach them with the Kingdom GOOD NEWS.  (tu)

Finally, the song that always made me cry the hardest.  Come to find out, the answer to "Who will answer?" was there in the song's chorus all along!!!!  "Who Will Answer?"  PRAISE JEHOVAH!!! PRAISE JEHOVAH!!! PRAISE JEHOVAH!!!  :D

"Aleluya No. 1"  "Who Will Answer?"

Written by Luis Eduardo Aute/English lyrics by Sheila Davis

From the canyons of the mind,

We wander on and stumble blindly

Through the often-tangled maze

Of starless nights and sunless days,

While asking for some kind of clue

Or road to lead us to the truth,

But who will answer?

Side by side two people stand,

Together vowing, hand-in-hand

That love's imbedded in their hearts,

But soon an empty feeling starts

To overwhelm their hollow lives,

And when they seek the hows and whys,

Who will answer?

On a strange and distant hill,

A young man's lying very still.

His arms will never hold his child,

Because a bullet running wild

Has struck him down.  And now we cry,

"Dear God, Oh, why, oh, why?"

But who will answer?

High upon a lonely ledge,

A figure teeters near the edge,

And jeering crowds collect below

To egg him on with, "Go, man, go!"

But who will ask what led him

To his private day of doom,

And who will answer?

If the soul is darkened

By a fear it cannot name,

If the mind is baffled

When the rules don't fit the game,

Who will answer? Who will answer? Who will answer?

Hallelujah!  Hallelujah!  Hallelujah!

In the rooms of dark and shades,

The scent of sandalwood pervades.

The colored thoughts in muddled heads

Reclining on the rumpled beds

Of unmade dreams that can't come true,

And when we ask what we should do,

Who... Who will answer?

'Neath the spreading mushroom tree,

The world revolves in apathy

As overhead, a row of specks

Roars on, drowned out by discotheques,

And if a secret button's pressed

Because one man has been outguessed,

Who will answer?

Is our hope in walnut shells

Worn 'round the neck of temple bells,

Or deep within some cloistered walls

Where hooded figures pray in halls?

Or in old books on dusty shelves,

Or in our stars, or in ourselves,

Who will answer?

If the soul is darkened

By a fear it cannot name,

If the mind is baffled

When the rules don't fit the game,

Who will answer? Who will answer? Who will answer?

Hallelujah!  Hallelujah!  Hallelujah!

Yes, I've also heard the rumors - particularly that the "crystal blue persuasion" was the blue Truth Book.  But I've never found anything to confirm it as true.  Does anyone else have any ideas on what else "crystal blue persuasion" could stand for?

Don't live for the moment - live for the future! :D

In an interview Tommy James said that the song is about his conversion to Christianity, but that's as far as he elaborated.

From a look at his bio - he includes song themes that are Christendom based, not biblical. 2012-Christmas album

I also heard in 1970's that Glen Campbell was baptized. Report was true, but it was Not the singer.
