Hello one and all!

Am not sure if this article goes in here (if not please put it where it should be) but I wanted to add it in since soon and or some are already attending Regional Conventions.  Some have reservations in hotel rooms, this article is for them, and in case anyone of us ever decides to go some place and we have to stay in a hotel (like me).  What a nightmare I had!  I was not given handicap assess or assistance, moved to the 3rd floor with the smell of cigarette smoke/stench, worse in the bathroom!  Pulled down the covers to the bed, and found blood stains on the covers, the blanket had cigarette burns and blood on it too, the sheets the same way.   I went down to the lobby to complain and show them the stains and they told me it was to late to change rooms!   So I went back and filmed the mess on the bed, the bedspread, the blanket and sheets, never mind the pillow cases!  Not only the smell of cigarette's, but the housecleaning did not check under the bed...woe!!!!   It was full of trash.  Beer bottles, empty soda bottles, chips bags, regular trash bags, you name it, it was there.  I filmed all of it.   I was up all night (who could sleep in a room like that?)  Finally, at 7am I went downstairs and low and behold the manager was there.  I brought the bedspread, blanket and sheets down to the lobby desk.  The manager came over and when she saw the blood stains on the items I had brought down, she says to me "Did you cut yourself last night?"   It took HOLY SPIRIT to keep me calm!  "NO, as you see, I don't have any band aids on my fingers!"   Then she realized the blood looked pretty dry or old.  I told her that I filmed the room, and the stench of the cigarettes was killing me.  After this and threatening to take this to the local media in the hotel's area, they went back with me to the stinking room, took my luggage out and down back into the lobby, they put me in a HANDICAP ROOM on the first floor (which was my room that I had held via phone and email), no smells of any sort including the stinking Cigarettes!  No trash under the bed, they gave me the best suite they had and I could open the windows in my new room!   A sister who lived down there came over to see me, she asked me what was that horrific smell.  I told her it was me (I never took my clothes off) my clothes and my luggage.  So she got my luggage, and I went to her home (she couldn't have me there, no room to sleep) and she did my laundry.  It took 2 times around to get the stench out, I took a shower and she gave me a robe to wear till my clothes were stench free!  The suit cases were outside airing out.   I was in the hotel from SHEOL!   Don't let this happen to you!!!   Mind you I did ask the sister who lived near there to go and check out the hotel.  She did, and reported that there was no smell of cigarettes anywhere, well she couldn't get into the rooms!    Never again at this hotel or any other!!!  The only good thing about, it was BEDBUG FREE!

No, I was not going to a convention.  It was something else, but the management corporate heard about it and I had the film to prove it!

Some years back a family that used to be in our Congregation decided to use a Hotel/Motel not on the list because they could get a room for less money.

They had a delay checking in the first day because they had to wait for the police to release the parking lot and office because there was a murder in one of the rooms.

Then, on Sunday, while they were packing their car to check out and leave, while they were checking that they had everything out of their room, their car was stolen with all their stuff in it.

In the end, it really wasn't cheaper then the ones on the list.

Was this a room on the convention rooming list?

Bad hotels. Try some of the cheaper ones in Windsor, ON.

On US side of border, well there are roach motels, however, best one ever stayed at was Holiday Inn just up from Detroit airport on Merriman Rd 9 Just north of 94

No, it was not.  It had nothing to do with ANY conventions at all.   And I do recall some years back, there was a hotel on the convention list in Florida, and the friends booked it.  They only stayed a few hours because the rooms they had, had NO locks on them, strange people coming in and out, and full of bugs running ramp tent everywhere.  Drugs dealers were there selling and buying.  The hotel was reported to the brothers who handled the hotels for the convention.  Needless to say, that hotel was removed from the list.  And I was just down there in December, and I was told that it was torn down.  I was in the hotel mentioned in my experience, and would not recommend staying there for any of my brothers or sister's, no way, never again, but it was not during any conventions, just a break from the 5 feet of snow up north!

Didn't know snow had feet let alone 5 of them. Would walking be out of step :lol1:

Many states have coupon books for accomdations and you can look up reviews online.

Sometimes the reviews must be taken with a grain of salt, other times well, let's just say they don't tell the half of it.

Red Roof Inns  got a poor rating in some areas, however, other than drunk out of town workers, one night stay in Amarillo, TX in March wasn't bad.

Those drunk out of town workers got reported to their company by Red Roof Inn
