I've not read the article.  Have temperatures not started rising yet?  Is the temperature increase waiting on a specific date to start?

You are like a kid with a stick in a room full of sleeping dogs. You just can't control yourself can you?

“[T]he world’s estimated remaining carbon budget consistent with a 50% chance of keeping the rise in temperature below 2 °C is consumed by around 2040 – eight months later than is projected in the absence of” emissions reduction pledges, according to IEA. The United Nations and environmentalists warn warming above 2 degrees Celsius would be dangerous for mankind and the environment.

The thing is, the temperature will increased exponentially. Maybe it only puts 2 degress off by 8 months, but it puts 3 off by years, 4 more off by decades. And maybe prevent even higher.

But do NOTHING. and you get, 2 more, then 3 then 4 and quickly even more. That's not going to be good.

The real story IMO is that a "news" site that swears there is no such thing as global warming is now saying "OK there is AND there is something man CAN do" - even if they don't think its much. People are starting to come around to reality - even deniers. That's a good thing.
