Bridge Of Spies

My wife and I went to see this movie at the cinema today. The latest movie from Steven Spielberg, it stars Tom Hanks and Mark Rylance in a film based on true events.

Rylance plays a Russian spy caught in the usa in the late 50's, and Hanks the lawyer assgned to his defence!

The story is fascinating and While Hanks has no chance of an acquittal, he aims to save his client from the death penalty.

Meanwhile an American U2 spy plane is shot down over Russia and the pilot Gary Powers is captured.

Hanks is asked to negotiate the exchange of prisoners.

It is a fascinating film, with Rylance turning in a marvellous performance (he is one of my favourite actors). Hanks too is excellent.

Rated in the UK as 12 or 12A, there are a few swear words at one particular point where Hanks is thought to have "messed up" (euphemism). The violence is more threat that actual, although from a distance you see people trying the climb over the Berlin wall being shot by border guards. This is not close-up though.

All in all, an excellent film. We enjoyed it very much.

This is another on my list. I think I can wait for the DVD, but Star Wars is a MUST see on the BIG screen!!!

Was wanting to go to the movies but was not sure what to see! I am into spy movies (grewing up with German "krimis")  but now these movies always say violence.

 

Some of my favorite moments were watching a movie that has been on for a while and have the entire theater for me or just a few because most have seen it, may be would get that with this movie being out for a while now?
