Things I know for Sure

When I buy a food product in a self closable zipper packet, I already know it will not work. To save time, I cut up the packaging and re-pack the food in paper, wax paper, my own storage container, or foil.  Despite what Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane (Starship) or Dustin Hoffman (the Graduate) have uttered about the fantastic-ness of plastic, "It ain't true." We only have one so called European Deli in our little town that packages in the old white butcher paper, but their inventory is, well not for me. Items like head cheese do not excite my palate any more than plastic does. It's not you, it's me.

 

I know that any packaged pens (as opposed to expensive single ones) will lose their enclosed caps, sooner or later. To deal with the inevitable, I  immediately throw out the cap and put my at-home pens in an inkproof container.  My to-go pens are held in a purse-place that will withstand a little ink spotting. Question: Am I the only person that notices someone try a pen, which doesn't work, and put it away for later?  Why not throw out the no-longer functional pen  at once and save multiple futile tries in the future? Purse, handbag- I understand, but where I came from they were referred to as pocket books. Now, many just say pock-a-boogs. Am I the only one that notices that?

 

p.s  Can you hand me my pocka-boog? I am looking for a pen to mark this white butcher paper in which I have repacked some Swiss Cheese which originated  in the US.

I don't think regular ink pens can write on butcher paper (at least the shiny side) - so asking for the pocka-boog would be a moot point.

Things I know for sure....Murphy's Law...."If something can go wrong, it will."  An

addition to this law reads, "and usually at the worst time."

 

The identity of "Murphy" is unknown, but the saying was first used during the

1940's and may have originated with members of the armed forces in World War ll.

I heard that Murphy and Kilroy were friends and when Murphy would make a mistake, Kilroy was there to see it...
