Home security cameras

Where your material is physically might be difficult or even impossible to find out even for the owner of the cloud service, and even unnecessary, perhaps.

What server stack gives the operator the option to do this? I'm currently using XenServer, and I used OpenVZ for about a year, and neither have anything even remotely close to this ability.

In a good cloud network, your files are encrypted and can be accessed by you only.

How often do consumer-level security camera companies have government-level security on their backup systems? My clients who need off-site resources get a VPS sized to their needs with encryption at the data level, further encryption on the OS level, and stored on my server network encrypted at the hypervisor level, but even then I advise them to use an on-site proxy for pre-encryption of any sensitive data, because physical access to the servers at the data center can overcome almost any security policy.

I have a nice camera system for the house and can access it remotely, but as I am not a super-secret government site - I don't have any hi-tech encryption. If people want to see what is happening around my house – I suppose they could just drive by and see the same thing.  :lol1:

I have this one - http://nightowlsp.com/products/complete-security-systems/hd-security-systems/8-channel/b-10lhda-881-1080.html

but only 4 camers - for now.

If any of your cameras are inside your house/garage, I'd advise against a company that uses nothing more than the serial number for cloud storage security.

These, like mine, store the continuous video recordings up to 1TB on the DVR. The whole remote viewing capabilities are basically viewing the DVR's IP address using the internet. I hope I explained that right. It has something to do with port forwarding the DVR.

I saw that. I get a free return if, when I get it, the fees are too much. Do you have another suggestion that is easy to view the footage?

Recording made to SD card or hard drive ...don't like subscription fees..... long term works out expensive.

It was starting at 49.99 dollars, 42.00 euro, a year. Plus able to monitor on your phone. I canceled it. I need to find one that'll work for less expensive. BUT I want one that's not a pain to get the SD card. Hopping on a ladder once a week isn't in my plan. Looking is starting to wear me out.

If running wires isn't a problem, this system gives you the option to connect a monitor directly to the system, or view the feed on a mobile device from anywhere without a monthly cost.

If you must have WiFi cameras, your cost is going to increase significantly, either through the purchase price or through the cost of the mandatory cloud service.

Hmm, did I see that one before? Did you talk about this one? The whole ethernet cable hook-up and running wires is the problem. We're just Jo Logger and Ms. Maintenance Personnel. I'll talk to Lew about it, see what he says.

I do like the looks of it, small and discreet.

I see what you mean.

I see the advantages of wireless cameras but it looks like there are more advantages with a camera that is hard wired and installed at a high point.

We tried ring for a while. With our WiFi it was just to inconsistent in performance. I think hard wire is the way to go.
