"To the god of fortresses, in his position he will give glory; and to a god that his fathers did not know he will give glory by means of gold and by means of silver and by means of precious stone and by means of desirable things.” (Daniel 11:38) In fact, the king of the north placed his trust in modern scientific militarism, “the god of fortresses.” He sought salvation through this “god,” sacrificing enormous wealth on its altar.

It seems that the above prophecy is finding fulfilment in Russia's recent efforts to merge the Orthodox faith with the army to create a new religio-militaristic ideology.

Russia has recently been frantically building churches in many towns. In Moscow alone, 25 new churches were built last year.

The Defence Ministry is also building a huge cathedral in honour of the Great Patriotic War, aka the WWII. It is said that it has been collecting funds, and in some cases forcing donations, to finance the construction of the cathedral, which features huge army‐themed bells.

You can read more about it in a Liberty Radio report below:

*** dp chap. 16 p. 276 pars. 13-14 The Contending Kings Near Their End ***
13 Continuing with the prophecy, the angel said: “To the god of fortresses, in his position he will give glory; and to a god that his fathers did not know he will give glory by means of gold and by means of silver and by means of precious stone and by means of desirable things.” (Daniel 11:38) In fact, the king of the north placed his trust in modern scientific militarism, “the god of fortresses.” He sought salvation through this “god,” sacrificing enormous wealth on its altar.

14 “He will act effectively against the most fortified strongholds, along with a foreign god. Whoever has given him recognition he will make abound with glory, and he will actually make them rule among many; and the ground he will apportion out for a price.” (Daniel 11:39) Trusting in his militaristic “foreign god,” the king of the north acted most “effectively,” proving to be a formidable military power in “the last days.” (2 Timothy 3:1) Those who supported his ideology were rewarded with political, financial, and sometimes military support.

The King of the North would trust in military power so much that it would appear to actually worship military might.

During the Warsaw Pact days, the Communist Bloc felt just as strongly about the military.  Military spending is what ultimately bankrupt the Communists, so it's clear they too worshiped the military to the point of no return.  Prior to that the Nazi state, the KotN of the time, blatantly worshiped the military despite having a literal "church."  Declaring Hitler to be their savior was almost the same as building such a church.

This brings us to today.  According to the article, the Russian military is building a military church.  It will be intended to rally the people around patriotic support of Russia.  The church will be the same color as Russian military equipment.  Pictures of military history and battle scenes will be intertwined with scripture as part of the interior decoration and iconography.  Military servicemen are intended to be shaped and molded by this religious institution.  While the article does try to connect the idea of western armies having military chaplains as being equal or similar to this military church, it's clear that this Russian idea is taking the combining of military and religion to a whole new level.

From the article the obvious conclusion is that this church is a vary blatant example of literally worshiping the military and putting one's trust in a militaristic idea.
