Adoption by JW's - blood issue

Recommended Posts

I am re-searching adoption subject (for personal reasons) and found some "disturbing" facts/obstacles regarding those who are Jehovah's Witnesses, willing to adopt a child from China or Philippines.

China: Jehovah’s Witness applicants or applicants from other religions that do not allow blood transfusions are ineligible.

Philippines

  • Applicants are required to demonstrate commitment to Christian beliefs and values through regular church attendance and participation in their church community.
  • Jehovah’s Witness applicants are not accepted unless they are prepared to sign a statement that they would consent to a blood transfusion for the child.

It just incredible to see how best "parenting opportunity" is eradicated under the "blood issue"

Man was created as an intelligent creature with the desire to explore and understand :)

You can consider Kyrgyzstan. Many foreigners adopt local kids. I personally know two Kyrgyz boys living in Jeelong who have been adopted by a friend of mine. There are many others I have heard about either through foreign acquaintances or the media. As far as I know, blood and religion is not an issue.

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are other options. I would also look at Ukraine.

In western lands especially the US & Canada it is Very hard to adopt. Most Children's Aid Societies/adoption agencies are run or staffed by religious people of one faith - such as

Catholic, or Pentecostal.

I only know or maybe half a dozen that were able to adopt - an example is in the July 2019 broadcast.

This is simply religious prejudice. But of course, the countries you are talking about are not famous for their respect of human rights.

Many Spaniards who adopt children in nearby Morocco have to sign a paper promising to teach that child the Muslim religion and make sure they become a faithful Muslim. Of course most couples forget about it as soon as they set foot in Spain again.

I have some friends who adopted a girl in Bolivia and basically it was just a purchase. They met with all kinds of legal obstacles that suddenly disappeared if you were willing to give a donation to the orphanage or invite the respectable judge for dinner in a fancy restaurant or pay some just-invented tax.

I have heard the same about adopting children in Russia. There are many cases in which, when you have all papers signed and everything seems to be ok, when you try to leave the country they will retain the child unless you pay 5,000 or 10,000 extra euros. Of course that's illegal, but when you are faced with the possibility of leaving the country without your child you pay whatever they ask you for.

This world stinks.

So true re: Children’s Aid having their hands the process.

I know personally of a situation where a Witness couple were directly told they were not approved to adopt solely due to their religious beliefs!

That didn’t stop them and they are proud parents to a child that they adopted privately.

Not to mention, and this is just my personal feelings, but its big business and a cash grab for these organizations.  I remember my sister and bro-in-law looked into it around 25 yrs ago and I think it was around $35,000...?!  For what?!  :perplexed:

Plus today - they say you have to meet a higher standard than having your own kids - however it seems every week or 2 that some foster/adoptive parents are being charged

with some crime against children under their care.

So much for higher standards.

I know there have been a few cases on the local news for surrounding area of London. People approved by local Children's Aid.
