On Saturday, the heat index (combination of temperature and humidity) hit 59.7C (139.4F) in Rio, breaking the previous record from the day before @ 59.3C.

A study done by scientists at Yale determined that approximately 70,000 people died due to extreme heat in 2022 in 16 countries in Europe.

 

Summer temperatures have risen more than 2.0C across much of Europe, the fastest warming inhabited continent, last year it was the hottest summer on record, until the Cerberus heatwave hit this year which will be recorded as hottest on record.

Yes we are still in Winter and Monday was around 28-30C.  Tuesday was probably about 25C.  I live Northern NSW where we enjoy a temperate winter but I have noticed change over the years.

Phoenix hit triple digits in temperature on May 27th and has been over 100F ever since for the 100th day today. Last record was back in 1993 for 76 consecutive days. Forecast showing the streak will continue.
