In our “Meetings Ministry” forum, Sr. Astrid has a section about our Watchtower.  I was reading it after I spent some time in the Annual Meeting thread.  I was reading about the GT and when it would come.  Then I realized the Sr. Astrid already told us.

“Through the GT” is the period of December 9-15.  It is a lot shorted than I thought....😊

Sorry...I couldn't help it...

Not the matter of when. It is the matter of how long? In the first century, it was 4 years long. Many friends think that the next GT will be a lot shorter.

I've reasoned the same way simply because technology allows ideas and news to travel so much faster now than in the past. Then again, the world is a complex set of systems. It will be interesting to see just how long it will take to collapse everything.

5 The Bible does not indicate how long the destruction of Babylon the Great will take,

but we do know that it will take place within a relatively brief time. (Rev. 18:10, 21)

Jehovah has promised that he will “cut short the days” of the tribulation so that his “chosen ones” and true religion will survive.

In our time of technology we could be completely wiped out in hours/days

I think I would be concerned with the intensity more than the length.  To a person on a vacation at the beach, a lack of ice for the drinks is a "tribulation", but you could suffer for weeks and be OK.  But if a nuclear bomb was dropped on your house it is much shorter for the tribulation.  It is very intense.

Good example of that is the Sri Lankan Tsunami ... I had an art student who walked among the bodies of that tragedy ... one minute they were enjoying a summer holiday ... and within minutes the scene had changed ... that was an intense situation that I hope no-one has to go through ... she will be scarred for life.

I agree - it's the intensity and scope that will make this the Greatest Tribulation that mankind has ever encountered not necessarily the length.
