3 years in a row dipping below 2m sq km.

“For the third year in a row, sea ice coverage around Antarctica has dropped below 2m sq km – a threshold which before 2022 had not been breached since satellite measurements started in 1979”

Seems to be a lot of action around the Thwaites Glacier ice shelf lately, saw some sat images this week and appears the ice is breaking faster than ever.  Perhaps this glaciologist research about thwaites collapsing in 5 years could become true.

Another article posted yesterday, 5/29/24 about excessive melting of Thwaites Glacier aka the “doomsday glacier”

Antarctica’s ‘Doomsday Glacier’ Is Melting Even Faster Than Scientists Thought

Thanks for linking that article. I saw another article similar to yours from the Glaciologist of university of California that they used the term Vigorous Melting when they viewed satellite footage of warm water and seawater intrusions.

The melting is so bad that this research article here made this statement.

2.7. Future Retreat.

At present, the GZ of Thwaites Glacier is retreating along a prograde slope, which is a configuration conducive to stabilization. Indeed, the grounding line retreat rate is twice slower than in the past when the grounding line was retreating on a flat bed (Fig. 2). Yet, the retreat is not halted by the prograde slope. Seawater intrusions extending 12 km may set up the glacier for further retreat (17). Once the glacier grounding zone retreats past Mouginot Ridge, which could happen in the next few years, it will migrate quickly to the South Ridge along retrograde slopes. South Ridge will be a smaller obstacle. It may only take 10 to 20 y before the glacier retreats past South Ridge, into the deeper basin, at which point a fast retreat will resume. In the nearby smaller-size basins of Smith and Pope Glaciers, retreat along retrograde slopes has proceeded at 2 to 3 km/y for multiple years (46). We conclude that the future of Thwaites—and other Antarctic glaciers—will hinge on how fast warm waters erode grounding zones over large distances, much faster than anticipated by current models.

It appears that Antarctica sea ice Extent and Area are on a downward trajectory again this year, both at 2nd lowest.

Global Sea ice Extent also 2nd lowest.

Not sure if it will dip below 2023 record as La Nina is approaching, a noticeable difference though is that the Arctic is melting more this year than last year.

Antarctica just logged its hottest temperature on record from an Argentinian research station (northern tip of Antartica Peninsula) with a thermometer reading of +18.3C (65F). Last record was in 2015 at +17.5C. These warming in the Arctic and Antartica is happening much faster than global average and will continue to accelerate.

I enjoyed reading this topic.  I haven't commented until now but it is an interesting subject.

This is part of the 'Poly Crisis' mentioned in the March 2024 JWBroadcast. So many things happening simultaneously!

The ice gains in Antarctica has now stalled completely today and is now melting where it should be refreezing, about 21k of melt and 109k below average for this time. Not looking good.

If it wasn't for the few thousand scientists that live and research on Antarctica, we wouldn't know the overall damage man is doing to the earth. Could this scripture apply?

(Matthew 24:29) ". . .the powers of the heavens will be shaken."

Not only is this PolyCrisis here but it is growing. One could say it started with the financial crisis and/or Putin’s first aggression. Now it seems we are in a train in full throttle with no brakes.

Wont know for sure, but this great tribulation will be unique, an event that has not occurred since the worlds beginning (Matt 24:21)

This affects the 2 land based ice masses:

Good video Percy, it gives the question of what happens when you add a bit more warming to our planet and if left unchecked, it gives unfavorable conditions for life to live in and ultimately an end to all life.

This video explain about 6 of the 15 tipping points which is describes as the most serious, While all tipping points can reach to end of life, but AMOC being the most severe of them all and would be the ultimate endgame.

AMOC is currently at about 15% weaker according to the video and scientific studies found online, so if it ceases, things will by definition be spiraled beyond our control in any meaningful way and would be a full state change to our global climate.

It’s been said that many feedback loops will be unstoppable when we reach 2.0C (estimate time 2030) warming from pre-industrial and we have pumped enough CO2 in our atmosphere to get us to 2.0C, I believe there’s enough to get us past 3.0C right now. We don't even have the capabilities to remove the carbon to reach a net zero emission and even if we did, it be too late.

We can do the math on this that there isn’t much time left before Jehovah has to intervene.

Antarctica looked to be in the solid 2 spot for during the winter season, however, it is now melting at a faster pace and it is most likely to be in the #1 spot for lowest beating 2023 record in the coming days.

Quite unbelievable what is happening there, never seen anything quite like it.

I was visiting some summits in Switzerland and on one peak they had to cover the glacier with protective fabrics to slow down melting.

Man was created as an intelligent creature with the desire to explore and understand :)

Not surprising, 10% of Swiss glacier volume loss in two years due to European heatwaves.

I’ve heard they are wanting to do something similar in Antarctica with the ice shelves.
