The world's 12 most populated cities

Recommended Posts

I don't know how people live that way. I am quite happy with my little town of 8,876. Closest city with over 1,000,000 population is 1,000 miles away. Gotta love it.

Which city with a million people is that?

Probably Los Angeles?

Wait, San Francisco is closer then that and it has over a million, right?

Nope it is Los Angeles. San Francisco’s population is only 805,235, 2011 census. Seattle is much less than SF.

If you look at the satellite view of our KH in my profile, one can see that Monmouth is smack dab in the middle of a lot of farming.

Oh, okay. I think in terms of metropolitan area. And the Bay Area metro is HUGE (7,460,000 people). Altogether it has more than a million. According to the Census Bureau, your "city" (metro area), Salem OR, has 390,738 people. So much for a small town. :raspberry::touche: I'm just kidding. I know a lot of my metro area in terms of area is actually just mostly rural towns separated by farms, some really spread out subdivisions, and even some forest. It's hard to define a particular "city", isn't it?

Nope Salem has 154,637 population and there is 20 miles of famland between Salem and Monmouth. The 390,738 people living in the Salem MSA would have to include all of Marion County and Polk Counties streaching 100 or so miles east to west and 30 or so mile north to south. The MPA for Portland, OR includes two States, go figure. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it. :touche::raspberry:
