Antibodies to the virus faded quickly in asymptomatic people, scientists reported. That does not mean immunity disappears.

It’s a question that has haunted scientists since the pandemic began: Does everyone infected with the virus produce antibodies — and if so, how long do they last?

Not very long, suggests a new study published Thursday in Nature Medicine. Antibodies — protective proteins made in response to an infection — may last only two to three months, especially in people who never showed symptoms while they were infected.

The conclusion does not necessarily mean that these people can be infected a second time, several experts cautioned. Even low levels of powerful neutralizing antibodies may still be protective, as are the immune system’s T cells and B cells.

But the results offer a strong note of caution against the idea of “immunity certificates” for people who have recovered from the illness, the authors suggested.

One thing that annoys me about this whole pandemic is "a study suggests" and "may last only two to three months" or "does not necessarily mean" "the authors suggested"

People always imagine the scientific community to be like a group of people who all look into a microscope and then draw an obvious conclusion and discover new facts, when it is all just "suggestions" and suppositions and assumptions based on numerical data that was put together within the setting of maybe 10-20% of all facts being actually known facts.

And sadly, much of these facts are then discarded if they do not fit into the context of the sales pitch. The new mRNA vaccine, for example, the one they are trying to fast-track against Covid19, is supposedly not doing to good in clinical trials at all. But they are not being very candid with the data in the public debate because this is a multi-billion dollar market (some claim trillion dollar market in the long run, depending on circumstances).

Quote

“For every dollar invested in vaccination in the world’s 94 lowest-income countries, the net return is $44. Hard to argue against,” Wimal Kapadia, Bernstein’s analyst, said in a note. “This oligopoly has been built through significant market consolidation driven primarily by the complexities of the manufacturing and supply chain.”

Always keep that in mind when you debate that this whole thing is primarily about health, and that money shouldn't go before people's lives. Don't believe for a second that "science" is interested in saving your lives or keeping you healthy. Don't put your trust in nobles.
