Is it possible to change the primary language of the JWLibrary app?

The app is in the same language as your system and you cannot change that.

You can change the language of publications, though. For example, let's say your Android is set to English. When you install JW Library all menus will appear in English. You can select Publications > Books or Meetings, or whatever, and change it to Spanish, and it will show the publications Spanish. But the menus will still be in English.

The only way to change the app language is to change your system language.

Could you please explain it for both?

On iOS, go to settings. Scroll down and find JW Library app, then go to Preferred Language. Find your languid and click it.

For Android, you should head to Settings, System, Languages & Input. If you don't find your language, tap "Add a language". After it has been added, you will need to move it to the top by long pressing on a slider on the right.

It should work fine. If you can't find your language on Android, you will install an app that changes your system locale.

Thanks, Baptiste! But that means changing your system language. That's why I said you cannot change JW Library to a language different than your Android system. :)

Good to know that it's possible to do it on iOS.

Unfortunately yes. Even for iOS, you need to ensure you have added multiple languages in your language list. Head to Settings > General > Language & Region and ensure you have more than one language on the list. If you don't, the per-app Language option won't appear.

By the way, you can do that for Android if your device is rooted :)https://techviral.net/set-different-languages-for-each-android-apps/

About 2 months ago, I opened JW Lib on my phone, only to find that the entire app was in an (for me) illegible script, which I later came to find out was Amharic! I was baffled because I hadn’t made the change. It took me a few frustrating hours to find out how to change the App Language back to English. (Whatever reset had taken place had picked the first language in the list.)

This was happening to me just last week. Apparently I was first Chinese, then Portuguese 😂 it's frustrating, I kept switching back to English, but the next time I went to Library, there it was again! It appears to have been a glitch with the app, after a couple of days it fixed itself, and it's been ok since with no input from me. Which is just as well, because I'm a tech moron really 🤣
