JW Library not downloading videos in Windows10 PC

Recommended Posts

Hi brothers & sisters,

For some time I've been having a problem with JW Library not able to download video files. I can download from JW Broadcast & move them into JW Library, but no direct download. I am using Windows Security & read online, that the latest security measures in Defender Virus & threat protection "Controlled Folder Access" was the cause. I shut down this protection & for a week I could download direct once again. However, now with the control still turned off, I am once again unable to download directly to the app. I'm hoping someone else has experienced the same problem, & found a solution. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide with this frustrating problem. John

I don't have any experience with this issue. Double check that Controlled Folder Access is toggled off in Windows Security -> Virus & Threat Protection -> Ransomware Protection. Open the Settings tab in JW Library (cog at the bottom left corner) and try changing the folder where you download videos to if it still doesn't work. Mine's set to a secondary hard disk drive rather than my documents on my primary solid state drive.

I tried it on my PC with Win10-Pro, version 21H2 and it works OK.

What version of Windows 10 are you using?  What version of JW Library are you using?  When yo go to "settings" in the JW Library app does it show a location for downloading the video files?

Yes I've checked all that. It is all as it should be. I also have my folders on an auxiliary drive, as can be seen in the screenshot. This has worked faultlessly for years. I am also running Win10-Pro, version 21H2. I have a feeling that the problem is in connection to Defender, as I previously used Panda Dome for years with no problems. There must be a setting somewhere that I've missed. As a side point, I have no problem at all downloading the music to the Library.

I am not sure of the amount of downloaded video, but you might try changing the video storage location to the main drive (C:/).

I have (rarely) had problems with the download not properly locating a remote storage area.

I also run Win10 Pro version 21H2.

Hi All,

I finally found what was causing the problem with the video downloads. I checked the Video Downloads Folder & noticed that it was not shared & required Administrative permission to write to the folder. I changed the permissions so we  can write without admin rights & everything is working as it should. Sometimes it takes the old brain so time to think things out logically 🤪
