I think you mean it's in pre-production, since Ramapo has not been built yet but maybe in 4 to 5 years as per the project's public website (https://jw-avcenter.org/#timeline). Land development started early 2025 and hopefully will end by the end of 2026. Phase 3 (the longest) is estimated to take 38 months till completion.

The Good News According to Jesus took several years of pre-production. The same will happen with Acts of Apostles to ensure historical accuracy. 

 

So while TGNJ completes its filming, Ramapo will end its construction around early 2031. 

If the organization releases two episodes per convention for the rest of the series, we'll get to 2032 with episodes 17 and 18. So we'd watch the first episode of AOA by 2033. This gives the brothers 2 years for filming and post-producing the first episode of AOA in Ramapo's brand new facilities. 

 

Nevertheless, since the first 7 chapters of Acts of Apostles is about the final words of Jesus on earth and his ascension to heaven, the pouring out of holy spirit on the 120 disciples and, the witnessing of Peter and John, the Temple scenes of chapter 3, the death of Stephen, etc., I consider a big portion of these scenes will still be filmed in the Australasia branch, even more if they keep using the same actors that already live there (I'd love to so we can have continuity). 

This would give more time to the Ramapo facilities and crew to get ready for taking over the filming of the rest of the episodes for AOA, maybe starting with Paul's story of chapter 8.

I just realized that the brothers from Australia and Ramapo would have different accents, so maybe it would be better if they didn't use any of the same actors.

 

It might also be better from a creature-worship perspective, particularly for the future resurrected viewers, if the same character were played by multiple actors so they understand that it isn't "really" them, it's just a reenactment.

Yeah, sorry, they're in the development stage of Acts of Apostles drama. This is to be filmed at Ramapo.

I have a question: Did the ban on beards have to be lifted because of the filming of the feature Bible drama The Good News According to Jesus? Forgive me if I’m asking something that has already been discussed. I’m an old man, after all, and in my time — when Jesus was walking around — the beard issue was never even on the agenda. 🤣

Unlike the dramas, which use fake beards, the feature Bible drama The Good News According to Jesus uses real beards. That is why I asked about the reason for lifting the restriction on beards.

In the Bible and in the feature Bible drama "The Good News According to Jesus", it says: "Then large crowds approached him, bringing along people who were lame, maimed, blind, speechless, and many others, and they laid them at his feet, and he cured them. So the crowd felt amazement as they saw the speechless speaking and the maimed being made sound and the lame walking and the blind seeing, and they glorified the God of Israel."—Matthew 15:30, 31.

 

Why doesn't the film show people who are missing limbs—the "maimed" mentioned in this passage? People with similar disabilities who watch this movie might find hope in Jehovah’s power to heal such conditions.

Prior to 1968 we pictured Jesus in our artwork as a 'beardless' man.  It was based on an error in an archeological finding (Antioch Chalice) that depicted Jesus without a beard and was dated to within a hundred years of his life.  The 1968 Watchtower explained the change in a QFR in the magazine.

 

The 1968 Calendar from the Watchtower Society had already be printed.  It showed Jesus without a beard.  The artwork we used after that showed him with a beard.  We made very few moving pictures prior to this time and few or none of these (except the Photo-Drama) were ancient Biblical dramas.

 

So our recognition of approved ancient males being bearded goes back at least to 1968 (or before).  The end of the QFR shows the reason we wanted a 'clean-shaven' appearance for modern publishers of the Good News.
