Any Ethiopian sisters in here? You guys look so good with your braids ❤️

I love locks and braids. I just wish it wasn't so expensive to have done and the little OK towns were more comfortable with them in the professional world.  When I worked at a bank a guy used to come in with locks. I thought they were beautiful.  But he got a printing or something at his job and he shaved them off. 😔

Dance. Even if there's no music.

Don't those (I had to look them up) require professionals - at least for starting them and removing them?  The maintenance looks a bit stressful..

My ideal hair wouldn't need anyone doing much of *anything* to it (including me!) except a haircut every now and then. I don't have hair money - as it is, I haven't been able to afford a haircut since February 2024.. 😕

Yes and no as these days there are some women whom have figured out how to do them themselves....via youtube...they just can't call them sister locks...as that is supposed to be trademarked.

Also when removing them my mom just let them grow out to about an inch then she went to a barbershop (Another PlayGrandma) and she cut them off....

I'm sorry you haven't been able afford a hair cut though 🥺🥺

I may be tired and in pain :wheelchair: but I'll never   :surrender: to it just send some encouraging words or hugs  :kisscheek:  :encourage:  and I'll return the same   :kisscheek:  :encourage:

I can only imagine what a loctician charges because it takes so much time and work to retwist locks, especially sisterlocks. Unfortunately a lot of us are pressured to cut our hair for leadership positions in corporate jobs. For example, I’ve never seen a woman with locks that worked for a major news network. When I used to have an afro, I would go on interviews and it was like the interviewer was interviewing my fro and not me. It caused a lot of tension. I would never get hired. But when I started going bald and shaved my head, all of the sudden it wasn't hard finding a job.

Although I prefer long locks on women, I love it when they can rock a short cut or no hair at all. There's something special about not having any hair on your head and still looking good. That's exemplified by these two Sudanese women. I love women from South Sudan for their dark skin and beautiful eyes ❤️

Also, this short style fits well with this sister. This is a screenshot from a video on JW Broadcasting.

Whoa! You need to cut them off to remove them??? Yeah, no way.. Plus it's so expensive and labor intensive. I REALLY hate fooling around with my hair. Besides, I don't think my hair is the right texture for that. It's 3B - curly not kinky.

No worries about haircuts. I just sorta trim it myself and wear it up in a bun 99% of the time. The person who normally cuts my hair wants $100-$150 for a bob cut and blowout, so I'll just keep my rubber bands and bobby pins at the ready 😎

Technically you don't have to.... that's just how my mom and many others have done it....some have gone through the tedious process of getting them taken down....like hours to get get removed 😕 😕 my mom doesn't mind having her hair cut off down to 1/4 inch so she didn't mind.   Your texture would just take longer to take to the locks  it's not impossible but  a bit longer.

I get the not wanting to mess around with the hair though....I just do regular cornrows on my own head...easy to take down and put up.
