Helping a dear Elderly Sister ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Recommended Posts

First of all this may be long, but I guess I just wanted to share how horrible the medical system had become. How badly we need Dr. Michael

A dear sister has been having a lot of health issues of late. (Lives 60 miles east of congregation and in her 80’s)

first of all she had family members come to visit who left her with laundry and other stuff, which she hasn’t a been able to deal with. After they left she had bronchitis for 3 weeks. Went to doctor (nurse practitioner 😡) a few times getting antibiotics and such. Not once tested for covid. Then she started having a sore leg

Travels about her to town to go the E R. Diagnosis of her leg. Deep vein blood clot. They give her blood thinner meds and sends her home.

Her leg is still hurting.

She messaged me yesterday and asked if there was anyone from the congregation that could come pick her up to take her to the doctors here in town. So I took her. i love this sister sooooo very much.

She asked that I accompany her during her appointment, which was a great idea seeing the treatment she got.

She ends up seeing ANOTHER nurse practitioner 😡. You get the typical what can I help you with?

So she explained about her leg. The nurse looks at the paperwork and says “your already being treated for it. You’re already taking the meds.” Like what are you here for. The poor sister was blindsided. All she coulda a think for saying was, like I’m looking for help.

To make a long story short, the nurse never even looked at her leg, didn’t check to see if it was warm or whatever blood clots do.

O the sister even asked for help in getting a second opinion. “Why? You’re being treated the way blood clots are treated?” 😡

But later she said that it would be a good idea for her to see someone at Hematology.

I kept an elder and his wife informed of all this as I mentioned during morning service about this sister asking for help and about her ongoing health issues. This wonderful elder is going to talk with the other elders and see what help can be given.

O this elder was so upset about the sort of treatment she got. Because I guess we list a sister recently (from another congregation) due to similar problems and treatment she got.

Again sorry for the long post, but I guess I just had to vent a little further.

Trying to get the help we really need as senior citizens is extremely difficult. I have just about given up on trying to get the help I need. At 80 I think they are just giving up on us. Sort of saying you've lived long enough. It's so encouraging to see you, a sister, help your dear friend. Jehovah sees your help and will remember your kindness.

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.

This is awful. I actually ran a little medical clinic for years. Providers come, and they go. But, one of my most favorite providers of all time was a FNP. Family Nurse Practitioner.
These medical people come on all sorts of stripes. An all time favorite, loved by generations, was a medical doctor. A MD.
I watched his patients come and go. I decided if you were not pregnant, (OB his speciality) or an, “elder”. (An old person) too bad, so sad. He proved it to me in a really upsetting way.
If you find a good medical provider that really listens to you, and reacts in a way that really helps you, stick with that person. I don’t care his, or her level of medical education.
I’m retired, and privileged to have just such a medical person caring for me. He’s a MD. His mother is into Chinese medicine. More natural stuff. He doesn’t raise his eyebrows when I tell him my latest medical escapades. He respects them, and shares what he can, along the same line of thought.
When he first came to the clinic, we had a really, really rough beginning. He corrected his ill begotten actions, heard me out, and, he’s one of my favorites.
Our dear sister. Thank you for being you. A loving sister. That accounts for more then any medical provider on this earth. Someone who cares, and loves you.
Only Jehovah could provide such.

It's always a pleasure to hear you, Vernalee. :)

My mother in law was recently treated for blood clots in her leg. One day we noticed that she was tired a lot so we took her to the doctor. Her GP thought she was just being lazy and scheduled physical therapist to get her to exercise. However, her hematologist recommended a blood test. We ended up getting a phone call from the hematologist to rush her to ER because her red cell count was critically low. After a series of iron infusions, she is fine now. They don't know exactly why her count got so low but they suspect she developed a leak in her GI because of the blood thinners. Be cautious and watch for signs of lethargy.

Just being lazy? O my! 😡 Now that’s sounds like something our medical people would say.

O thank you. That’s why I’m glad she’s going to a hematologist for a second opinion. I don’t care much for the doctors or assistant of any kind here in our small town. (and I’m not the only one). I’m going to make sure we keep in close contact about this.

with the elders on board already as far as giving her physical help as she needs it, Sister Marion will be taken very well care of.

Isn’t that the truth. I think that’s how this sweet dear sister felt too.
