What android version should my tablet have for JWLibrary to work and receive the latest updates?

I can remember that there was some information about which android model we should have for us to keep getting update on JWLibrary, but I can't find it anywhere.
Maybe if there was an old topic about this, please refer me to that topic.

 

Does anyone remember this information being shared with the congregation? Where can I find it? Or does anyone know, what android version it should be?

Yes, it's not the particular device or the age of the device that limits it - it is the version of Android. As long as your device can support 5.1 or above it should update just fine.

 

Most Android devices will simply not run or try to run a version it cannot use - it will just stay at whatever was the latest version it is capable of running.

I had a Kindle Fire HD tablet that ran an Amazon version of Android that equaled V.4.4 and it refused to load JW Library.  It had previously run an earlier version of JW Library but it had been password locked.  The only way I could use it was to reload the Operating System from scratch.  It wiped out the JW Library and when it was ready to lad, the app store refused and said it was inoperable on the current system

 

I was able to "side-load" the APK our organization makes available, but once loaded it would not download any publications.  I was able to go to JW.ORG and download a single book or magazine (one at a time) and direct that they be opened in JW Library.  That did work, but the updates refused to work.  You had to erase the publication and reload the newer version.  Very difficult and tedious.

 

The notice posed about Android 5.1 or newer is correct.
