Eurovision 2023

Recommended Posts

Oh, I know.  Such a tacky, tacky show.  It's hard to watch, like a train wreck.  But this year I've downloaded a playlist from youtube that cuts out a lot of the mundanity, and you can skip the less watchable acts.

I have only seen Semi 1, and there were some good, strong performances (among the crass ones).  If you have an interest in this, here are the two playlists for Semi 1 and 2:

NPR (National Public Radio) has a segment on this competition today and I watched the acts the writer had picked as

his top 10 favorites to win this year.

My fave was the UK's entry by Mae Muller "I Wrote a Song".

Very catchy tune. 😁

You should be able to go to Eurovision's Official YouTube channel and watch the videos that are available for your country :)

I can't see either

Either what? Both the videos that @hatcheckgirl posted - which are evidently region restricted - or both @hatcheckgirl  and my video links?

In light of our current Enjoy life forever topic on neutrality. Is Eurovision something we should be neutral in.

Enjoy the songs, don't support the country. Just like you can watch a sporting event and enjoy it so long as you don't get caught up in nationalism.

You can enjoy watching the best players win, or enjoy what is the best song. Although the best song isn't always the one that wins, politics often enters into it, so just enjoy what you like.

Considering the limited time - approx 45 seconds each - I thought the pre-performance 'Postcards' where done well by linking Ukraine with Britain with each Country Performance, using similiar/matching buildings, objects, landmarks, and natural features.

ie: National Library of Ukraine, Kyiv > Liverpool Central Library > Deichman Library, Oslo, featuring the Norway performer in and around the Deichman Library.
