Can a witness work an Envoy under the  United Nations ambassador?

please provide detailed answers with scriptural backings or research backing. Thanking you in advance

Ubong, I have no idea of what an envoy under the UN ambassador is. Can you explain a bit which kind of work that is? Does he work for a political party? A government? Which kind of tasks he has to do? You won't find any publication that mentions that specific job, but knowing what it implies we can find the Bible principles that apply.

Working for the UN is not necessarily wrong in itself. I know Witnesses who work as translators or do administrative work at the UN offices.

i think means this...

A Special Envoy of the Secretary-General (SESG) is a senior United Nations official appointed by the United Nations Secretary-General to deal with a set of specific issues.

Those "appointments" are usually given to individuals who are political allies of those who have the authority to grant them.

I can't imagine a witness being high up in a political party to be considered an "ally". Usually, people offered those jobs have worked as "volunteers" on political campaigns and such. Working to help someone get elected is not something a Christian would be doing - so, how could they become a political ally?

It just seems that you are asking a hypothetical question about something possibly happening, yes?

Whoever was being offered the job would have to know what exactly the job entails and if it would require them to be involved in political activities or not.

So, to the hypothetical – is it possible? Sure - maybe, depending on the exact work.

PS I have often thought that governments could really curb the abuse of some of these safety net programs by hiring JWs who for the most part would honestly do the work.

Part of the problem with this sort of employment, maybe the impression it leaves with others. A brother or sister can be 'stumbled' easily over what to some is a trivial matter.

We had this here once when a brother saw another brother coming out of a brothel. The fact that his was legitimate business, nothing to do with the practices there still had a profound effect on the onlooker.

At one of the elder's schools, some time back, a question came up about a brother who was a carpenter being asked to repair a church door. The response showed that some would, some might, others would not. The discussion was drawn forward by the instructor giving some valuable advice about consideration of others. He included a passing bible study, a child of one of the families and an opposer. All with differing opinions and drawing conclusions from what they see and think they understand.

Especially might this be an issue where a brother or sister is in any way associated with organisations at enmity with God's Kingdom. We might use texts like: 1Cor 10:21 "You cannot be drinking the cup of Jehovah and the cup of demons"; or 2Cor 6:14 "Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness."

If this sounds excessive, it is helpful to view things as the other person might see them and, perhaps more importantly whether they cross the boundary from Jehovah's standpoint.

As our brothers have said before "when in doubt, leave it out".
